Fairchild, WI, June 25, 2011 – With all divisions racing including the exciting motorcycles, tonight proved to be a great night of hot racing action. Despite a half hour rain delay, sunny – warm weather prevailed, and 6 classes of racing provided much excitement for the race fans in attendance.

Chris Grimes and Mark Kraus battled for the top spot in the 35-lap Super Late Model feature event. Grimes, who earlier in the evening took top honors in his heat, paced the field for the first 17 laps. With Kraus holding down the second spot, Ohio sensation Matt Tifft worked his way from his twelfth starting position, into the third spot by lap 18. On the same lap, Ronnie Rihn took the lead away from Grimes. With Tifft making the inside pass of Grimes to capture the second spot, Greenwood, WI driver Erin Schlough moved past four cars to gain the fourth position. While Matt Tifft and Ronnie Rihn battled side by side for the top spot, and Schlough closing in on Grimes for the third spot, caution flew as Jesse Pokszyk was tagged and spun in turn three. With seven laps remaining, it appeared there was much great racing remaining with all the two and three wide racing occurring. Up front, it was Tifft and Rihn racing side by side for the win, further back, Grimes proved to have the better car on short runs and pulled away slightly from Schlough. Several times in the closing laps, the two lead cars made contact with Rihn getting moved up the track slightly. Young Matt Tifft fought off a hard charging Ronnie Rihn for the win by no more than three feet. With Grimes coming home third, new point leader Randall Wilhorn took advantage of Schlough sliding up the track slightly off turn two, and made the inside pass on the last lap to pocket fourth. Schlough, who had a great car on the long runs, earned his first top five finish of the year at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Matt Tifft also took home top honors in qualifying with Rihn crossing the line first in the fast heat. Cardell Potter held off Tifft to win the Napa of Marshfield Dash 4 Cash.

CWSSA Super Stocks were once again in action tonight and Ryan Hinner was looking to keep his stronghold on the division with point leader Bryan Langreck looking to knock off the multi feature winner. Matt Pyburn enjoyed a comfortable lead as he surpassed Joe Nowak, Bryan Langreck, and John Kasbowski on the first lap. Pyburn held the lead until fast timer Ryan Hinner grabbed the lead away on the ninth lap. Once Hinner found himself in the top spot, the real race would be for second. With Pyburn holding down the second spot, Paige Decker was looking to take it away. With Ryan Hinner capturing yet another feature win, Matt Pyburn held off a hard charging Paige Decker for the runner up position. Natalie Decker and Claire Decker rounded out the top five.

Participating in another great night of racing was the 4-Cylinder Division. Dennis Goetsch tripped the clock fastest with a lap time of 22.737. Heat winners tonight were Matt Cole and point leader Don Dunow. Mike Dixon looked strong once again tonight as he led the first 16 laps of the 20-lap main event. On lap 17, Don Dunow and Mike Dixon made contact bringing out the first caution. With Dixon taking the blame for the event, Don Dunow would get his top position back. Dunow would have to hold off the challenges of Steve Hauser the rest of the way to earn a feature win. Another great battle on the speedway was Matt Cole and Rick Brandl for the fourth spot. Once starter Patrick Barrett threw the checkered flag, it was Don Dunow winning another feature. With Steve Hauser coming home in the second spot, Dixon, Matt Cole, and Rick Brandl finished third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

Harry Bell not only has a very sharp looking Bandit racecar, it is very fast! Bell, who calls Marshfield home, tripped the clock at 23.713 to earn top honors in qualifying. Tim Anderson was standing in the way of Bell earning another feature win. Anderson, an Auburndale, WI resident, took the lead away from Bell and went out to win the Bandit Feature. Anderson also pocketed the Bandit heat win. With Harry Bell coming home in second, Charlie Nickel and Isaiah Rowe finished third and fourth.

In their debut at MMS, the Midwest Mod 4’s Adam Eckes set fast time. Eckes tripped the clock at 21.870. Dale Louse quickly set the pace in feature action as he powered his #9 racecar in front of the field. Scott Scholze made every attempt to run down Louse, however, Dale Louse fought off all battles and came home in the top spot. With Scholze taking second, Adam Eckes, Bob Dalski, and Aaron Peterson rounded out the top five respectively.

Next week, the stars and cars of the ASA Midwest Tour visit Marshfield Motor Speedway. See former Nascar Sprint Cup champion Matt Kenseth’s son, Ross, compete against some of the top stars in America, including Steve Carlson, Tim Schendel, and Chris Wimmer. For complete details, visit us online at www.marshfieldspeedway.com.

Marshfield, WI, June 4, 2011 – It was another great night of racing action at Marshfield Motor Speedway. There was much door-to-door racing action that thrilled the Marshfield faithful!

In Napa of Marshfield Super Late Model action, Neil Knoblock set the pace with his first fast time award of the year. Knoblock also came from the rear of the field and took home top honors in his heat race. Redline Speedsports driver Ben Pettis took home the Dash 4 Cash honors this evening. Marshfield ace Dean LaPointe outlasted Chris Grimes and pocketed a heat win in the Jack’s Bar, #15 Chevrolet. Chris Grimes let the field to the line in the super late model feature event. Grimes held that position for the first ten laps until Cardell Potter decided it was his turn to take over the helm. Potter, who also race snowmobiles in the wintertime, enjoyed a comfortable lead over second place Chris Grimes. On lap 19, Neil Knoblock decided it was his turn to take over the runner up position putting his familiar #70 machine in front of Grimes. Knoblock now had his sights set on a very fast Potter machine. Cardell Potter had a sizable lead over Knoblock and held on for his first feature win at Marshfield Motor Speedway. With Knoblock finishing second, Nekoosa’s Randall Wilhorn had a very good run and finished third. Rounding out the top five were Chris Grimes and Ben Pettis.

Ryan Hinner had a career night here tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Hinner captured his first clean sweep by gaining fast time honors, and crossing the finish line first in his heat and feature races. Hinner, in a new car this year, has been fast where ever he races. The UW-Stevens Point student has had a very impressive season thus far this year. Another driver making his first appearance of the year at MMS was Travis Volm. Volm gave Hinner all he could handle in tonight’s feature race, racing a Wayne Mackesy prepared hot rod. Volm captured second place with Joe Nowak taking third. Last week’s feature winner Bryan Langreck will hold the point lead with his fourth place finish. Fall Creek’s John Kasbowski came home in fifth.

What a great night of racing in the 4-Cylinder Division. Arguably, one of the most exciting classes of racing at MMS, the 4-Cylinders put on another great show for the fans in attendance. Tripping the clock in qualifying fastest, Boyd, Wisconsin driver Don Dunow captured his first career fast time award! Neillsville, WI driver Ron Sischo put his #63 hot rod in victory lane in heat action. Point leader Derk Hauser of Gilman, WI put his car in victory lane in heat #2. Ron Sischo led the field of cars to the green flag in the 20-lap feature event. Sischo held the lead until lap five that was when Rick Brandl took over the top spot. Brandl’s lead was short lived however; Gilman’s Steve Hauser made the outside pass of Sischo to take the top spot. Don Dunow and Dennis Goetsch made it tough for Hauser. The two talented drivers were inside, outside, and on the rear bumper of Hauser throughout the entire feature. Credit goes to Steve Hauser though, as he was able to fend off all challenges of Dunow and Goetsch and put his racecar in victory lane. With Dunow and Goetsch placing second and third respectively, Mike Dixon and Rick Brandl rounded out the top five.

In his first appearance at the race track tonight, Adam Eckes pocketed fast time honors in the Bandit Division. Point leader Harry Bell took home the checkered flag in the Bandit heat. In feature action, Adam Eckes set the pace for the first six laps with Harry Bell hot on his bumper. Bell took over the top spot with a pass of Eckes on lap seven. Bell was able to hold of a hard charge by Eckes in the race’s final lap to take home another feature win. With Eckes holding down second place, Chili, WI driver Dan Nickel and Auburndale, WI driver Tim Anderson finished third and fourth respectively.

Next week it will be Napa of Marshfield night at the races. Gates open at 4pm with qualifying at 5pm and racing beginning at 6:30 pm. Join us on Facebook or visit us online at www.marshfieldspeedway.com for all up to date information.

Fairchild, WI; September 4, 2010 – Fans were treated to some great racing on a somewhat chilly season championship night at the races, here Saturday night.

With all divisions competing, and most still battling for championships, it was sure to be a special night for the race fans. When the Super Late Models took to the track in their 35-lap feature event, a pair of #29’s, Ronnie Rihn & Chad Selk led the way. As Selk and Rihn ran in the first two spots, Elk Mound, WI driver Ben Pettis worked his way to the inside of Mark Eswein for the third spot. Two laps later, Pettis, racing in the Redline Speedsports #7-11, made the move past “Rookie of the Year” Ronnie Rihn for the runner up spot. Selk, who has been extremely fast all year, had built up a 10-car length lead. It appeared Pettis was cutting into the lead that Selk earned, but it was status quo for numerous laps. At Jason Weinkauf and Dalton Zehr battled side by side for numerous laps, maybe the best race of the night was Mark Eswein and Ben Pettis for the third spot. The two veteran drivers ran side by side for 20 laps. With 10 laps remaining, lap traffic was going to be a concern as the gentlemen drivers of Eswein and Pettis were fast approaching the lapped car of Jack Greenwood. In the center of corners 3&4, Eswein gained the advantage as Pettis was forced into the third groove by the lap car, and Eswein moved through the middle to gain the third position. By this time, it was noticeable that Dalton Zehr was cutting into Selk’s lead. With 2 laps remaining, Zehr pulled up onto the back bumper of Selk. After the drivers received the white flag indicating one lap to go, Zehr started looking to the outside of Selk. Going down the backstretch, the Zehr charged to the outside of Selk. The two drivers were side by side entering turn 3, and as they came to the checkered flag, Zehr out powered Selk down the front stretch as the two drivers made contact with each other, and Zehr took the checkered flag as he crossed the finish line sideways. With Selk finishing second, Mark Eswein, Ben Pettis, and Jason Weinkauf came home third through fifth respectively.

The D&D Amusement Games Super Stocks entered the track for their 25-lap feature event and it was Marv Flick and Ryan Hinner leading the pack to the green flag. Hinner was able to work his way past Flick for the race lead. As Hinner was building a lead, Mark Langreck worked his way past Flick for the runner up spot. Deeper in the field, Colin Reffner was showing his talent as he worked his way past Ernie Schlough and Greg Back. With Hinner riding out front, Reffner moved past Langreck for the second position. As the drivers crossed the line on the seventh lap, Reffner edged his way past Hinner for the top spot. Two laps later, Greg Back driving the Matt Raykowski number 6 machine, worked his way to the runner up spot. Back, who earlier in the day won the fast heat, appeared to maybe have something for the very fast Reffner machine. Winning the previous two feature events and looking to make it three in a row was “Rookie of the Year” driver Randall Wilhorn. Wilhorn, who started shotgun on the field, worked his way to the third spot by lap-11. With track champion Michael Gwidt working his way to the fourth spot, and Ernie Schlough working his way to a top five spot, it was status quo the remainder of the feature event. Young Colin Reffner cruised to the win on season championship night at the races. With Greg Back and Randall Wilhorn coming home in second and third, Michael Gwidt and Ernie Schlough completed the top five.

The always exciting 4-Cylinders took to the track and Eau Claire, WI driver Paul Berg gained the early advantage. Winning his heat earlier in the evening, Berg appeared to be on autopilot as he was enjoying a sizable lead. Working his way towards the front from his mid pack starting spot was Steve Hauser. Hauser, who all year has been in a tight battle with his son Derk, has been the fastest driver the second half of the season. With Paul Berg continuing to lead, Steve Hauser raced his way past Ernie Schlough for the second spot. A couple laps later, Steve Hauser was able to work his way past Berg for the top spot. With six laps remaining, fast qualifier Derk Hauser raced past Berg for the runner up position. However, once the gentlemen drivers crossed the finish line, it was all Steve Hauser as he cruised to another feature win at Marshfield Motor Speedway. With Derk Hauser wrapping up the season championship title with his second place finish, Paul Berg came home in third. Rounding out the top five positions in the 4-cylinder feature were fast heat winner Don Dunnow and last week’s feature winner, Dennis Goetsch.

The racing division that has become very popular in recent months is that of the Bandits! With point leader and fast qualifier Harry Bell looking to notch a feature win, many other drivers were going to have their say in that matter. Heat winner David Harvath led the field to the green flag. At the completion of the first lap, Kevin Burris drove his way to the front from his sixth starting position. With Burris enjoying a lead, Tim Anderson raced his way to the second spot and started to close in on a very fast Burris. With two laps remaining, Anderson cleared the machine of Burris for the top spot. Once the drivers received the checkered flag from starter Patrick Barrett, it was Anderson, Burris, and Harry Bell, the top three finishers. Rounding out the top five was Matt Phelps and David Harvath.

Maybe the best race of the night appeared within the Junkyard Warrior Division. Coletta Gomes, who earlier in the evening took the checkers in the heat race, led the field to the green flag. Receiving much pressure from fast qualifier and point leader Gary Haarklau, Gomes was able to fend off all challenges early on in the feature event. As Gomes and Haarklau battled side by side, Charlie Nickel worked his way to third and started to put heavy pressure on Gomes and Haarklau. Several times the top three drivers ran 3-wide for position. Once the drivers received the white flag, they were still 3-wide for position. As the drivers drove down the backstretch, they were still 3-wide. Exiting turn 4 and coming to the checkered flag, Charlie Nickel give it his all, but the Chili, WI driver came up short by a mere 2 feet as Coletta Gomes collected another feature win. Gary Haarklau finished a car length back in the third position. Marc Baldwin and Justin Baldwin finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Finishing off a great night of racing was the always exciting, Cruisers. Leading the pack to the green flag was the team of Weber & Wolf. Quickly taking the lead in the 12-lap feature event was Ciesielski & Rodriguiz. Ciesielski & Rodriguiz led for three laps, that were when Berg & Berg took over the helm. Berg & Berg, in their high-powered cruiser, dominated the field to the checkered flag. Ciesielski & Rodriguiz came home in the second spot with Kuhn & VanStedum coming home in the third spot. With Weber & Wolf finishing fourth, Kalata & McIntee finished fifth.

Next weekend, Marshfield Motor Speedway will host the Annual Fall Shootout that will begin with Friday’s practice session and race party in the Speedway Bar. Saturday, Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, Click Club USA Legends, Bandits, Motorcycles, Junkyard Warriors and Cruisers will be competing. On Sunday, the Yellow River Racing Series Super Late Models, Super Stocks, Sportsman, Midwest Modified, 4-Cylinders, and Pure Stocks will be competing. Please check our website for further updates.

However, tonight was going to be Charlie Nickel’s night as he scored his first career feature win! With Haarklau finishing second, Coletta Gomes, Justin Baldwin, and Marc Baldwin rounded out the top five.

Lee Gray and Kyle Genett led the Bandits class to the green flag for their feature event. After the completion of the first lap, it was Roger Cochrane leading the way. Cochrane held that point with Adam Eckes hot on his heels, and Lee Gray not far back. Knocking Eckes out of the runner up spot and looking extremely fast of late, was Tyler Raab. Raab, who was also celebrating his 19th birthday, grabbed the lead away from Cochrane with five laps remaining. Raab went on and cruised to his first career feature win with Cochrane finishing second. Tim Anderson, Adam Eckes, and Kyle Genett rounded out the top five.

Fairchild, WI; August 14, 2010 – It was another great night of racing action at Marshfield Motor Speedway here Saturday night on Elks and Sponsor’s night at the races.

Rookie of the year contender Adam White and Merrill’s Jay VanDerGeest set the early pace in the 25-lap Super Late Model feature event. VanDerGeest quickly cleared the machine of White to take the early lead. Two early movers through the field was Mark Eswein and Jason Weinkauf. Weinkauf arrived late at the track as he was repairing his familiar #76 racecar from heavy damage he sustained in an accident at Golden Sands a week ago. At the halfway point of the race, Weinkauf was able to grab the second spot from White as Eswein moved into the third spot. VanDerGeest, who has been very fast of late, enjoyed a sizable lead as drivers battled side by side in mid pack. On lap 15, Mark Eswein worked his way past the Weinkauf car to gain the runner up position. While Jim Sauter, Jr. and Weinkauf ran side-by-side for the third spot, it was evident that the #36 machine of Eswein was running down the leader. By lap-21, Eswein reached the backside of the VanDerGeest machine. With veteran driving skills in place, the fans were treated to some great driving by Eswein. Entering turn one, Eswein would fake to go to the outside of VanDerGeest, then quickly shoot to the low side. However, VanDerGeest, who also has veteran’s skills, quickly slammed the door on Eswein’s attempt. Once the driver’s crossed the finish line, it was VanDerGeest edging out a very fast Eswein for the win. The race for third was also a side-by-side affair with Weinkauf clipping Sauter, Jr. by a foot for the third spot. Bloomer’s Ronnie Rihn worked his way from the back of the pack to gain the fifth position. Jim Sauter, Jr. took home top honors in qualifying. Heat winners were Adam White and Jay VanDerGeest with Jason Weinkauf winning the Dash 4 Cash.

The D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks put on another great show for the Marshfield Motor Speedway faithful. Marv Flick and Ryan Hinner led the field to the green flag. Ryan Hinner quickly grabbed the lead away from Flick and built a 5-car length lead. Randall Wilhorn got a great starting spot with engine issues in qualifying and getting the third starting spot. Wilhorn worked his way to the backside of the Hinner machine by lap five, he then grabbed the lead away one lap later. Greg Back, racing the Matt Raykowski car, grabbed second away from Hinner at the halfway point of the race.

With Wilhorn enjoying a large lead, point leader Mike Gwidt was working his way through the field. Gwidt made his way past Brian Weinfurter on lap 12 to earn the third position. Gwidt and Greg Back battled side-by-side for four laps with Back finally giving way to a very fast Gwidt for the runner up spot. It was evident that the hard work that the Wilhorn crew did all week, to prepare their car that had engine issues, was going to pay off. Randall Wilhorn cruised to an easy win with Mike Gwidt and Greg Back finishing second and third respectively. Greenwood’s Erin Schlough and Marshfield’s Mark Langreck rounded out the top five. Gwidt turned the fastest lap of the day to earn the fast time award. Heat winners were Randall Wilhorn and Erin Schlough with Mark Langreck coming home first in the Dash 4 Cash.

Charles Dixon jumped out to an early lead when the 4-Cylinders took the green for their 20-lap feature event. Dixon’s lead was short however, as Jared Lindner grabbed the lead away on the second lap. Lindner’s lead was short as well as heat winner Ron Sischo took the lead away on lap three. With Rick Brandl leading the next circuit, Wisconsin Rapids driver Denny Goetsch finally took over the helm as he raced past Brandl on lap six. Goetsch would lead until lap 16, that was when Gilman driver Derk Hauser decided it was his turn to lead. Hauser edged by Goetsch bringing his father, Steve Hauser with him. Once starter Patrick Barrett threw the checkered flag, it was Derk Hauser edging out his father Steve for the race win. Goetsch came home in the third spot with Don Dunnow and Rick Brandl placing fourth and fifth. Brian Langreck and Ron Sischo were the heat winners here tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway.

On lap six, Tim Anderson raced past the machine of Raab for the runner up spot. Anderson now had his sights set on a very fast Burris machine for the top spot. Point leader Harry Bell worked his way to the fourth spot with three laps remaining. Anderson closed in on Burris with one lap to go. As the drivers raced down the backstretch on the white flag lap, the two drivers got together making significant contact. It was Anderson coming out on the better end of the contact and taking the checkered flag first. With Burris having a great race and taking second, Raab made his way to another podium finish coming home in the third spot. Point leader Harry Bell and Arkdale’s Lee Gray finished fourth and fifth respectively. Anderson also claimed the heat win with Roger Cochrane tripping the clock fastest earning fast time.

GWIDT, HAUSER, GRAY & HAARKLAU EARN FEATURE WINS!

August 8, 2010; Fairchild, WI – Despite the threat of storms, fans were treated to some great racing on Chuck Dougherty Memorial Night at the races.

Pacing the Super Late Models to the green flag in their 25-lap feature event were Jim Sauter, Jr. and rookie driver Adam White. Sauter and White held their positions for a number of laps. While Sauter continued to lead, Jason Weinkauf decided it was time to run down the leaders. Weinkauf edged by White on lap 8 and continued to set his sights on a very fast Sauter. Working his way to the third position was Ross Kenseth. Kenseth, who earlier in the evening captured fast time, quickly worked his way through the field as he started in the twelfth position. At the halfway point of the race, Kenseth cleared the machine of Weinkauf to earn the runner up spot. There was trouble up front! Race leader Jim Sauter started to slow with a shower of sparks coming from his car. Unfortunately, Sauter’s right front tire went down as he had a comfortable lead on the field. With the caution coming out for the Sauter misfortune, Ross Kenseth inherited the lead. On the restart, Chad Selk began to put heavy pressure on Kenseth for the race lead. Selk stuck his nose on the inside of Kenseth on every corner but Kenseth appeared to have more horsepower than that of the young Selk. The second group of drivers was having a great battle as well. Adam White, Ben Pettis, and Dean LaPointe. LaPointe started putting heavy pressure on the Pettis machine, but unfortunately for LaPointe, he too, had a tire go down. Upfront, the battle between Kenseth and Selk continued. On the last lap, Selk pulled to the inside of Kenseth, the two drivers made slight contact going down the backstretch. As the drivers entered turn 3, Kenseth gained the advantage as it appeared Selk slipped slightly. In the end, it was Ross Kenseth earning his first career Marshfield Motor Speedway feature win. With Selk coming home in the second position, Weinkauf, White, and Pettis rounded out the top five.

Finishing order:

#25 Ross Kenseth

#29 Chad Selk

#23 Jason Weinkauf

#TV2 Adam White

#7-11 Ben Pettis

#11 Chris Grimes

#97 Brian Goodwin

#29 Ronnie Rihn

#80 Monte Gress

#21 Matt Tift

#33 Jack Greenwood

#15 Dean LaPointe DNF

#51 Jim Sauter, Jr. DNF

In a tightly contested point battle in the D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks, Mike Gwidt, Erin Schlough, and Randall Wilhorn were all looking to find a way to gain the advantage on the other. Wilhorn, who earlier in the evening captured fast time, had his work cut out, as he had to come from the rear of the field. As Aaron Anderson led the field to the green flag, it was sure to be an exciting feature with some of the top drivers in the state competing. Terry Knupp worked his way to the front and led the first three laps. However, it didn’t take Mike Gwidt long to work his way through the field. Gwidt, raced his way to first by lap 4. While Gwidt cruised out front, it was exciting for the fans to watch the young Wilhorn work his way through the field. Wilhorn and Schlough worked their way to the second and third positions respectively. Trying to run down a very fast Gwidt was nearly impossible tonight. The Wausau, WI driver of Gwidt, cruised to an 8-car length win with Wilhorn and Erin Schlough running second and third. Last week’s feature winner Brian Weinfurter came home in fourth with Dash 4 Cash point leader Mark Langreck finishing fifth.

Back in action this week was the always exciting 4-Cylinders. At the completion of lap one, it was Charles Dixon pacing the field. The next 4 laps belonged to young Bryan Langreck who has been very impressive the past few weeks. It was Dennis Goetsch’s turn to lead the race. Goetsch worked his way past Langreck and led the next five laps. Guess who worked their way through the field? Yes, the Hauser dual of Steve and Derk Hauser. The two Hauser’s have been nothing short of sensational this season. By lap 11, it was all Hauser & Hauser, with Derk edging out his father Steve for the race lead. In the end, it was Derk Hauser adding to his point lead with the feature win. Steve Hauser finished second with Dennis Goetsch finishing a respectable third. Rounding out the top was a very consistent Ricky Brandl and Boyd, WI driver Don Dunnow.

With a growing car count, the Bandit Class is beginning to become a fan favorite. Point leader Harry Bell grabbed the early lead with Lee Gray hot on his heels. A few laps later, it was Gray completing the pass on Bell for the race lead. Gray built a nice lead, however, a very fast Tim Anderson cleared the machine of Bell and set his sights on Gray. Also working his way through the field was Roger Cochrane. Cochrane edged past Anderson for the runner up spot. Not so fast, Anderson raced past Cochrane to recapture second as the two drivers had the fans on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately for Cochrane, he had to exit the field with car issues. Also looking very fast was Tyler Raab. Raab, in his first career feature, worked his way to the third position with a pass on point leader Bell. In the end however, it was Arkdale, WI driver Lee Gray coming home victorious. With Anderson having to settle for second and Raab finishing third, Melissa Hopkins and Charlie Spry rounded out the top five.

The Junkyard Warrior was apart of a very exciting night of racing at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Gary Haarklau once again proved to be the king of the field. Haarklau once again captured fast time and feature wins. Coletta Gomes came home first in the heat. Young Charlie Nickel from Chili, WI took third in qualifying, his heat, and the feature completing a good night of racing. Marc Baldwin, in a borrow car from his son Justin, come home fourth in the feature.

Next week at Marshfield Motor Speedway, it is Sponsor Night at the races. Also joining Marshfield Motor Speedway for the first time will be the Elks. All Elks showing their Elks membership will be admitted free! Please join us online at: www.marshfieldspeedway.com for all the up to date information, or join us on Facebook.

July 31, 2010; Fairchild, WI – Fans from abroad were treated to some warm summer weather and hot racing action, here, Saturday evening on Bill Sherman Memorial Night sponsored by V & H Ford, Inc.

With racing’s number one driver in America visiting the asphalt oval of Marshfield Motor Speedway, fans were treated to an autograph session by Dick Trickle.

With the inclement weather last week, fans this week were treated to double features in the D & D Super Stocks and Super Late Models. MG Gajewski led the field of 18-cars to the green flag in feature number one. Gajewski edged out Adam White after the completion of lap number one and built on his lead. The battle for second heated up with Jason Weinkauf, who earlier got by Ronnie Rihn, sticking his nose on the backside of White. Lap after lap, Weinkauf looked low on White, but White was able to fend off the challenge of Adam White. At the halfway of the feature event, Gawewski continued to have a stronghold on the field with White, Weinkauf, Rihn, and Chad Selk running in the top five. Caution flew on lap-16 when Jim Sauter, Jr. got into the back of Ronnie Rihn causing him to spin in the middle of turn one and two. On the restart, Jason Weinkauf finally cleared the machine of Adam White and begun to set his sights on Gajewski for the race lead. With Gajewski and Weinkauf battling up front for the lead, Rihn started to close rapidly on the race leaders. On the last lap exiting turn two, with Gajewski and Weinkauf racing side-by-side, Rihn darted inside making it three wide going down the backstretch and through turns 3 & 4. Unfortunately for Rihn, there is no three wide passing inside allowed and was placed last car on the lead lap. Therefore, with the illegal move by Rihn, and being on the race’s final lap, both Gajewski and Weinkauf were deemed winners of the event by starter Patrick Barrett. Promoter Wayne Brevik backed the decision of Barrett stating, “Unfortunately for Ronnie, he’s a racer and thought he was racing for the win and was unaware of the rule.” “Insofar as Jason and MG, they were side by side racing and put at a disadvantage with the inside move of Ronnie, therefore, I support Patrick’s decision making it fair for everyone involved.” Rounding out the top five were Tim Sauter, Jay VanDerGeest, and Wisconsin Rapids driver Mark Eswein in a Ben Martinson prepared machine.

La Crosse, Wisconsin driver Don “Thunder” Turner pulled out to an early lead in race number two for the super late model drivers. Turner, who has been very impressive as of late, battled point leader Jim Sauter, Jr. side-by-side for several laps. As Sauter, Jr. exited turn two it appeared something gave way on the car, sending him spinning and bringing out the first caution. On the restart, Jay VanDerGeest started to put heavy pressure on Turner. The two drivers battled side-by-side for several laps with VanDerGeest finally taking over the top spot. Tim Sauter and Rory Melbinger started mixing it up in their battle for the third position. Sauter edged by a very fast Melbinger and begun to set his sights on Turner. At the halfway point of the race, Sauter raced his way past Turner bringing Mark Eswein with him. Upfront, Sauter started to put heavy pressure on VanDerGeest for the race lead. The two drivers battled door handle-to-door handle for several laps before Sauter made the inside pass exiting turn two. That’s all it took for Sauter, once he got by his team car, he cruised to the Bill Sherman Memorial feature win. With Jay VanDerGeest coming home in second, Mark Eswein had a very respectable run in the #36 car finishing third. Rory Melbinger and LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash winner Don Turner, finished fourth and fifth.

Neil Knoblock earned the Miller Fast Time Award with Ronnie Rihn and Rory Melbinger scoring wins in their respective heats.

The D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks took to the track in their first feature event of the evening. Terry Knupp grabbed the early lead with heavy pressure from Scott Luck. Luck was able to get by Knupp on lap four bringing Erin Schlough with him. With Luck and Schlough running first & second, there was a good battle for third brewing. Randall Wilhorn and Mike Gwidt race each other clean with Gwidt holding the advantage and remaining in the third position. Gwidt started closing the gap between he and Erin Schlough. With Scott Luck out front and no apparent pressure, the race was between Schlough and Gwidt. As the two drivers exited turn two on the final lap, Gwidt and Schlough made contact sending Schlough up the track. At the finish line, it was all Scott Luck, pocketing his first feature win at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Gwidt finished second with Randall Wilhorn, Erin Schlough, and Mark Langreck rounding out the top five.

Claire Decker held the point in feature number two with Marv Flick running a close second. Decker held the lead for five laps, that was when Brian Weinfurter decided it was his turn to lead the race. Two laps later, Erin Schlough moved past Decker for the runner up spot. Working his way to the third position was fast timer Mike Gwidt. Gwidt closed the gap on Weinfurter and was looking inside for the pass on lap-16. Weinfurter was able to slam the door on Gwidt keeping him in his rear view mirror. In the end, it was Brian Weinfurter scoring the win with Gwidt, Randall Wilhorn, Erin Schlough, and Scott Luck your top five pointer getters.

Marv Flick & Ernie Schlough came home heat winners in the D & D Amusement Games CWSSA Super Stocks. Schlough, who calls Greenwood, WI home, also won the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash.

The Bandits took to the track again tonight and Tim Anderson continues to put pressure on Harry Bell for the point’s battle. Anderson, who earlier in the evening captured fast time, was looking to earn another feature win, however, Lee Gray, Sam Suddeth and others were looking to break his streak of feature wins. It didn’t take long, but Anderson worked his way to the front with Lee Gray hot on his heels. When starter Patrick Barrett threw the checkered flag, it was Anderson once again capturing another feature win. Lee Gray did come home second with Melissa Hopkins taking home the third place trophy. Harry Bell and Christine Schmude rounded out the top five. Roger Cochrane brought home the checkers in the Bandit heat.

Junkyard Warriors battled again tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Gary Haarklau took home the fast time award just edging out Justin Baldwin. Coletta Gomes earned top honors in heat action with Charlie Nickel finishing in the runner up spot. In feature action, Coletta Gomes cut into Gary Haarklau’s point lead with her feature win. Charlie Nickel battled hard but had to settle for the second position. Justin Baldwin and Marc Baldwin finished third and fourth respectively.

Next week, it’s the Chuck Dougherty Memorial Race. Competing on the half-mile paved oval of Marshfield Motor Speedway will the super late models, super stocks, 4-cylinders, bandits, and junkyard warriors. Gates open at 4pm with qualifying at 5pm and racing at 6:30 pm.

TIM ANDERSON & GARY HAARKLAU TOP FIELD!

Fairchild, WI; July 24, 2010 – The racing continued this evening at Marshfield Motor Speedway with all divisions racing, and the children treated to kid’s night at the races with race car rides, bike giveaways, and a Frisbee toss sponsored by the Woman Concerned for Auto Racing.

Mother nature put a monkey wrench into tonight’s racing for the Super Late Models and Super Stocks. Earlier in the morning, the speedway received over 3 ½ inches of rain causing the water to bubble up through the blacktop, in turns 1 & 2. Track officials worked feverishly to cure the problem, but the rains begun to fall again only compounding the problem, hence, track promoter Wayne Brevik made the decision to run double features next Saturday night, for these two divisions. Super Lates and Super Stocks were able to get their preliminary races in, racing their respective Dash 4 Cash and heat races. In Super Late Model action, Jim Sauter, Jr. edged out Ben Pettis to earn the Miller Fast Time Award. Chad Selk won the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash, with Brian Goodwin and Adam White capturing heat wins. In the D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks division, Mike Gwidt earned fast time honors, with Mark Langreck topping the field in the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash. Scott Luck edged out Marv Flick and Ernie Schlough to take home top honors in super stock heat action. Next week’s racing action will begin with super late model and super stock make up features, followed by the regularly scheduled racing events slated for Bill Shermin Memorial Night.

The 4-Cylinders started the racing action tonight with their first of two feature events, as it was double feature night for the division. Eau Claire, WI driver Paul Berg drove off to a large lead in the 20-lap feature event. Attempting to chase Berg down was Dennis Goetsch and Steve Hauser. Steve Hauser spent extra time this week setting his car up for the double feature night, and it appeared to help as he looked extremely fast. Hauser edged by Goetsch on lap five to earn the runner up spot. Hauser cut Berg’s lead down to one-car length on lap 13 and took over the top spot one lap later. With Steve Hauser now in command, Denny Goetsch was looking to close on Berg for the second spot. In the race end however, Berg held on to the runner-up position to feature winner, Steve Hauser. Goetsch finished third, with Derk Hauser and Boyd, WI driver Don Dunnow finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Taking the early lead in the second feature was point leader Derk Hauser. Moving to second getting by pole sitter Bryan Langreck was Paul Berg. With Derk Hauser cruising out front, the battle on the track was between Paul Berg, Dennis Goetsch, and Steve Hauser. On lap 14, Goetsch powered by Berg to take over the second position. With Derk Hauser extending his lead, Steve Hauser was able to drive by Berg for the third spot, with 4 laps remaining in the 20-lap feature event. Once the checkered flag flew, it was all Derk Hauser, capturing yet another, feature win. Goetsch, who ended up having a fantastic night at the track, finished in the second position. Steve Hauser, Paul Berg, and young Bryan Langreck, completed the top five finishers here tonight in feature #2 for the 4-Cylinders.

The Bandits were treated to double feature points here tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Tim Anderson was looking to cut into Harry Bell’s point lead, and did exactly that earning top honors in qualifying and his heat. Lee Gray held the early lead in the Bandit feature that was until Roger Cochrane decided to take over the helm. Working his way through the field was Tim Anderson. Anderson worked his way past Lee Gray, bringing Harry Bell with him. Anderson’s car appeared to be able to run the low line with ease. Anderson worked his way to the inside of Roger Cochrane with three laps remaining. The two drivers raced side by side with Anderson able to edge by Cochrane for the feature win. Harry Bell had a very respectable third place finish with Lee Gray and Matt Phelps rounding out the top five.

Gary Haarklau built on his point lead in the Junkyard Warrior division winning top honors in qualifying, his heat, and the feature. Coletta Gomes and Charlie Nickel finished second and third respectively, in all events.

Next week, it’s Bill Shermin Memorial Night at the races. With the point races heating up, and double features in the super late model and super stocks divisions, it should prove to be a very exciting night at the races! Visit us on Facebook or online at: www.marshfieldspeedway.com for all the up to date activities at Marshfield Motor Speedway.

ERIN SCHLOUGH WINS D&D AMUSEMENT GAMES SUPER STOCK FEATURE EVENT. DERK HAUSER, TIM ANDERSON, & GARY HAARKLAU SCORE WINS!

Fairchild, WI; July 10, 2010 – The threat of rain dissipated and the fans raced in to see some of the best racing thus far this year. Fans on hand tonight were treated to the second leg of the Yellow River Racing Series and Mid-Season Championships. The Yellow River Racing Series is a three race series and the finale will occur at the Annual Fall Shootout in September.

Nineteen cars started the 50-lap Yellow River Racing Series feature event, with visitor Matt Tifft among the starters. Tifft, a 14-year old driver from Ohio, is a driver development driver under the direction of Schendel Racing based out of Sparta, WI. Adam White and MG Gajewski led the field to the green flag with Gajewski edging out White to take the early lead. Gajewski’s looked strong early holding off challenges from Chad Selk and Adam White. On lap 13, Ben Pettis made a strong move entering turn three to take over the third spot from White. Pettis now had his sites set on a very fast Selk for the runner up position. Meanwhile, Gajewski appeared to be cruising up front, however, he started to billow spoke from his right front. Starter Patrick Barrett threw the caution flag to take a look at the leader’s car. Unfortunately, Gajewski had to park his car with a broken oil line. Taking over the race lead on the restart was Chad Selk with Jim Sauter, Jr. taking over the second position. Moving up through the field and taking over the fourth position was fast qualifier, Eugene Gregorich, Jr. On lap-21 of the 50-lap feature, Eau Claire, WI native Ben Pettis worked his way to the outside of Sauter, Jr. and cleared the multi feature winner driver to take over the second spot. At the halfway point of the race, Gregorich worked his way past Pettis for the runner up spot, setting his sites on race leader, Chad Selk. Gregorich appeared to be able to run anywhere on the track, on lap-32, the gentleman driver cleared Selk with an outside move earning the top spot. With Gregorich leading by 4-car lengths, the race for second was heating up with Pettis noticeably closing in on Selk. A spin by the fifth place driver, Ronnie Rihn, caused a caution with 15-laps remaining. Also caught up in the caution were Derek Gress and Adam White. Rihn and White were able to continue, however, Gress was finished for the evening. On the restart, Gregorich appeared to be in control stretching his lead to 3-car lengths over Selk. Selk appeared to be fast on short runs, and Pettis on long runs. Pettis was passed by point leader Mark Kraus, but Pettis fought back on the outside and was able to get back by Kraus. Both Pettis and Kraus appeared to close on second place runner Selk, however, with laps counting down, the two drivers ran out of time to better their respective positions. Earning his first Yellow River Racing Series feature win was that of Eugene Gregorich. Also going to the start/finish line for post race ceremonies was Chad Selk and Ben Pettis. The two drivers finished on the podium with second and third place finishes respectively. Mark Kraus, Jason Weinkauf, and Jim Sauter, Jr. finished in 4th through 6th positions.

Fast Qualifier: Eugene Gregorich – Heat Winners: John Totzke, Jr. & Chad Selk

Fourteen cars took to the track in the 20-lap D&D Amusement Games Super Stock feature event. Matt Pyburn took the early lead with Terry Knupp a close second. Having a great year and taking over the race lead was Greenwood’s Erin Schlough. Schlough took over the points lead a few weeks ago and was certainly looking for that to stay status quo. By lap seven, Schlough built a 10-car length lead on the rest of the field. Kyle Andrich worked his way to the second spot, with Brian Weinfurter hot on his heels. At the halfway point of the race, fast qualifier Mike Gwidt worked his way into the third position. Two laps later, Gwidt worked his way past Andrich for the runner up position. Racing side by side for the fourth spot was Weinfurter and Lyle Nowak. This battle went out for 7 laps with Weinfurter finally getting the spot. Out front, it was all Erin Schlough; Schlough cruised to an easy win with Gwidt coming home in second. Andrich, Weinfurter, and Nowak rounded out the top five. Mike Gwidt was crowned Mid-Season Champ as Schlough had problems in qualifying, not earning the points needed for the crown. Gwidt also won the their respective heats.

Dennis Goetsch jumped out to the early lead in the 20-lap 4-Cylinder feature event. Goetsch held the lead until lap 6, when Steve Hauser took over the helm. Hauser built a sizable lead with now, his son Derk, running in the second position. With the two Hauser’s running in the top two spots, a very fast Austen Stump appeared to close the gap slightly. However, on lap 13, Stump’s car spun in the middle of turn one and two bringing out the caution. On the restart, it was once again Steve Hauser holding the top spot with his son Derk, running second. With 5-laps to go, Steve Hauser’s car popped out of gear several times allowing Derk Hauser to capture the race lead. Steve Hauser was forced to finish the race driving with one hand, as he had to hold the shifter in gear with his other hand. Derk Hauser went on to win the feature event with Steve Hauser coming home in second. Battling his way back through the field and finishing third was Austen Stump. Jared Lindner and Dennis Goetsch finished fourth and fifth respectively. Rick Brandl and Derk Hauser come home winners in their heats. Derk Hauser and Steve Hauser ended up tied for the Season Championship crown, hence, Track Promoter Wayne Brevik flipped a coin and Derk ended up winning the Mid Season Championship.

Bandits once again took to the half-mile paved oval of Marshfield Motor Speedway, with Matt Phelps and Harry Bell leading the group to the green flag. Kohl Yach took over the race lead on lap five and held it until the final lap. The race’s final lap was a good one; Tim Anderson and Kohl Yach battled to the end with Anderson coming home the winner and capturing the Mid-Season Championship. With Yach finishing second, point leader Harry Bell finished third. Roger Cochrane and Lee Gray rounded out the top five. With a limited car amount in the Junkyard Warrior Division, they raced with the Bandits. Gary Haarklau and Coletta Gomes has been top notch in the Junkyard Warrior Division all year, and tonight was no different as these two drivers finished first and second.
