TIM ANDERSON & GARY HAARKLAU TOP FIELD!

Fairchild, WI; July 24, 2010 – The racing continued this evening at Marshfield Motor Speedway with all divisions racing, and the children treated to kid’s night at the races with race car rides, bike giveaways, and a Frisbee toss sponsored by the Woman Concerned for Auto Racing.

Mother nature put a monkey wrench into tonight’s racing for the Super Late Models and Super Stocks. Earlier in the morning, the speedway received over 3 ½ inches of rain causing the water to bubble up through the blacktop, in turns 1 & 2. Track officials worked feverishly to cure the problem, but the rains begun to fall again only compounding the problem, hence, track promoter Wayne Brevik made the decision to run double features next Saturday night, for these two divisions. Super Lates and Super Stocks were able to get their preliminary races in, racing their respective Dash 4 Cash and heat races. In Super Late Model action, Jim Sauter, Jr. edged out Ben Pettis to earn the Miller Fast Time Award. Chad Selk won the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash, with Brian Goodwin and Adam White capturing heat wins. In the D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks division, Mike Gwidt earned fast time honors, with Mark Langreck topping the field in the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash. Scott Luck edged out Marv Flick and Ernie Schlough to take home top honors in super stock heat action. Next week’s racing action will begin with super late model and super stock make up features, followed by the regularly scheduled racing events slated for Bill Shermin Memorial Night.

The 4-Cylinders started the racing action tonight with their first of two feature events, as it was double feature night for the division. Eau Claire, WI driver Paul Berg drove off to a large lead in the 20-lap feature event. Attempting to chase Berg down was Dennis Goetsch and Steve Hauser. Steve Hauser spent extra time this week setting his car up for the double feature night, and it appeared to help as he looked extremely fast. Hauser edged by Goetsch on lap five to earn the runner up spot. Hauser cut Berg’s lead down to one-car length on lap 13 and took over the top spot one lap later. With Steve Hauser now in command, Denny Goetsch was looking to close on Berg for the second spot. In the race end however, Berg held on to the runner-up position to feature winner, Steve Hauser. Goetsch finished third, with Derk Hauser and Boyd, WI driver Don Dunnow finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Taking the early lead in the second feature was point leader Derk Hauser. Moving to second getting by pole sitter Bryan Langreck was Paul Berg. With Derk Hauser cruising out front, the battle on the track was between Paul Berg, Dennis Goetsch, and Steve Hauser. On lap 14, Goetsch powered by Berg to take over the second position. With Derk Hauser extending his lead, Steve Hauser was able to drive by Berg for the third spot, with 4 laps remaining in the 20-lap feature event. Once the checkered flag flew, it was all Derk Hauser, capturing yet another, feature win. Goetsch, who ended up having a fantastic night at the track, finished in the second position. Steve Hauser, Paul Berg, and young Bryan Langreck, completed the top five finishers here tonight in feature #2 for the 4-Cylinders.

The Bandits were treated to double feature points here tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Tim Anderson was looking to cut into Harry Bell’s point lead, and did exactly that earning top honors in qualifying and his heat. Lee Gray held the early lead in the Bandit feature that was until Roger Cochrane decided to take over the helm. Working his way through the field was Tim Anderson. Anderson worked his way past Lee Gray, bringing Harry Bell with him. Anderson’s car appeared to be able to run the low line with ease. Anderson worked his way to the inside of Roger Cochrane with three laps remaining. The two drivers raced side by side with Anderson able to edge by Cochrane for the feature win. Harry Bell had a very respectable third place finish with Lee Gray and Matt Phelps rounding out the top five.

Gary Haarklau built on his point lead in the Junkyard Warrior division winning top honors in qualifying, his heat, and the feature. Coletta Gomes and Charlie Nickel finished second and third respectively, in all events.

Next week, it’s Bill Shermin Memorial Night at the races. With the point races heating up, and double features in the super late model and super stocks divisions, it should prove to be a very exciting night at the races! Visit us on Facebook or online at: www.marshfieldspeedway.com for all the up to date activities at Marshfield Motor Speedway.

ERIN SCHLOUGH WINS D&D AMUSEMENT GAMES SUPER STOCK FEATURE EVENT. DERK HAUSER, TIM ANDERSON, & GARY HAARKLAU SCORE WINS!

Fairchild, WI; July 10, 2010 – The threat of rain dissipated and the fans raced in to see some of the best racing thus far this year. Fans on hand tonight were treated to the second leg of the Yellow River Racing Series and Mid-Season Championships. The Yellow River Racing Series is a three race series and the finale will occur at the Annual Fall Shootout in September.

Nineteen cars started the 50-lap Yellow River Racing Series feature event, with visitor Matt Tifft among the starters. Tifft, a 14-year old driver from Ohio, is a driver development driver under the direction of Schendel Racing based out of Sparta, WI. Adam White and MG Gajewski led the field to the green flag with Gajewski edging out White to take the early lead. Gajewski’s looked strong early holding off challenges from Chad Selk and Adam White. On lap 13, Ben Pettis made a strong move entering turn three to take over the third spot from White. Pettis now had his sites set on a very fast Selk for the runner up position. Meanwhile, Gajewski appeared to be cruising up front, however, he started to billow spoke from his right front. Starter Patrick Barrett threw the caution flag to take a look at the leader’s car. Unfortunately, Gajewski had to park his car with a broken oil line. Taking over the race lead on the restart was Chad Selk with Jim Sauter, Jr. taking over the second position. Moving up through the field and taking over the fourth position was fast qualifier, Eugene Gregorich, Jr. On lap-21 of the 50-lap feature, Eau Claire, WI native Ben Pettis worked his way to the outside of Sauter, Jr. and cleared the multi feature winner driver to take over the second spot. At the halfway point of the race, Gregorich worked his way past Pettis for the runner up spot, setting his sites on race leader, Chad Selk. Gregorich appeared to be able to run anywhere on the track, on lap-32, the gentleman driver cleared Selk with an outside move earning the top spot. With Gregorich leading by 4-car lengths, the race for second was heating up with Pettis noticeably closing in on Selk. A spin by the fifth place driver, Ronnie Rihn, caused a caution with 15-laps remaining. Also caught up in the caution were Derek Gress and Adam White. Rihn and White were able to continue, however, Gress was finished for the evening. On the restart, Gregorich appeared to be in control stretching his lead to 3-car lengths over Selk. Selk appeared to be fast on short runs, and Pettis on long runs. Pettis was passed by point leader Mark Kraus, but Pettis fought back on the outside and was able to get back by Kraus. Both Pettis and Kraus appeared to close on second place runner Selk, however, with laps counting down, the two drivers ran out of time to better their respective positions. Earning his first Yellow River Racing Series feature win was that of Eugene Gregorich. Also going to the start/finish line for post race ceremonies was Chad Selk and Ben Pettis. The two drivers finished on the podium with second and third place finishes respectively. Mark Kraus, Jason Weinkauf, and Jim Sauter, Jr. finished in 4th through 6th positions.

FINISHING ORDER:

Fast Qualifier: Eugene Gregorich – Heat Winners: John Totzke, Jr. & Chad Selk

Fourteen cars took to the track in the 20-lap D&D Amusement Games Super Stock feature event. Matt Pyburn took the early lead with Terry Knupp a close second. Having a great year and taking over the race lead was Greenwood’s Erin Schlough. Schlough took over the points lead a few weeks ago and was certainly looking for that to stay status quo. By lap seven, Schlough built a 10-car length lead on the rest of the field. Kyle Andrich worked his way to the second spot, with Brian Weinfurter hot on his heels. At the halfway point of the race, fast qualifier Mike Gwidt worked his way into the third position. Two laps later, Gwidt worked his way past Andrich for the runner up position. Racing side by side for the fourth spot was Weinfurter and Lyle Nowak. This battle went out for 7 laps with Weinfurter finally getting the spot. Out front, it was all Erin Schlough; Schlough cruised to an easy win with Gwidt coming home in second. Andrich, Weinfurter, and Nowak rounded out the top five. Mike Gwidt was crowned Mid-Season Champ as Schlough had problems in qualifying, not earning the points needed for the crown. Gwidt also won the their respective heats.

Dennis Goetsch jumped out to the early lead in the 20-lap 4-Cylinder feature event. Goetsch held the lead until lap 6, when Steve Hauser took over the helm. Hauser built a sizable lead with now, his son Derk, running in the second position. With the two Hauser’s running in the top two spots, a very fast Austen Stump appeared to close the gap slightly. However, on lap 13, Stump’s car spun in the middle of turn one and two bringing out the caution. On the restart, it was once again Steve Hauser holding the top spot with his son Derk, running second. With 5-laps to go, Steve Hauser’s car popped out of gear several times allowing Derk Hauser to capture the race lead. Steve Hauser was forced to finish the race driving with one hand, as he had to hold the shifter in gear with his other hand. Derk Hauser went on to win the feature event with Steve Hauser coming home in second. Battling his way back through the field and finishing third was Austen Stump. Jared Lindner and Dennis Goetsch finished fourth and fifth respectively. Rick Brandl and Derk Hauser come home winners in their heats. Derk Hauser and Steve Hauser ended up tied for the Season Championship crown, hence, Track Promoter Wayne Brevik flipped a coin and Derk ended up winning the Mid Season Championship.

Bandits once again took to the half-mile paved oval of Marshfield Motor Speedway, with Matt Phelps and Harry Bell leading the group to the green flag. Kohl Yach took over the race lead on lap five and held it until the final lap. The race’s final lap was a good one; Tim Anderson and Kohl Yach battled to the end with Anderson coming home the winner and capturing the Mid-Season Championship. With Yach finishing second, point leader Harry Bell finished third. Roger Cochrane and Lee Gray rounded out the top five. With a limited car amount in the Junkyard Warrior Division, they raced with the Bandits. Gary Haarklau and Coletta Gomes has been top notch in the Junkyard Warrior Division all year, and tonight was no different as these two drivers finished first and second.

Next week, the Mid-American Series invades Marshfield Motor Speedway with over 30 Mid Am’s scheduled to compete. Also competing next week will be the D&D Amusement Games Super Stocks, 4-Cylinders, Junkyard Warriors, and Bandits.

Marshfield, WI: July 3, 2010 – Motorcycle racing continued here Saturday night at Marshfield Motor Speedway as seven two-wheeled warriors put on a 15-lap feature event. Most of the regular riders were here tonight along with national rider, Brock Schwarzenbacher of Beaver Dam, WI.

In heat action, Granton’s Craig Lewis held Schwarzenbacher’s pace and put up a big charge on the last lap, however, Lewis just come up inches short of the win.

The field was set for the feature and at the green flag, the crew blasted their way into turn one like there was no tomorrow. Schwarzenbacher held the point on his Honda, however, Hatley’s Steve Kasten tucked under him going into turn three to take over the race lead. Craig Lewis had a miscue coming off turn two that placed him near the rear of the field. However, Lewis was able to put his head down and marched towards the front. Marshfield front-runner Cliff Eckes, Jr. ran into tire issues and faded from the front trio as his front wheel slipped repeatedly in mid corner. Lewis made it past Eckes and started reeling in Kasten and Schwarzenbacher, however, the laps ran out before he could get close enough to make a move. Meanwhile, up front, the young Schwarzenbacher studied the lines of the more experienced Kasten, and shot by Kasten at the last possible moment going down the backstretch. Schwarzenbacher claimed the feature in his first visit to Marshfield Motor Speedway. For more information in regards to motorcycle racing, contact Woody Eckes at: cliffscycle@aol.com

WILHORN, GOMES, & ANDERSON SCORE WINS!

Fairchild, WI; July 3, 2010 – With temperatures soaring in the upper 80’s and not a cloud in the sky, it was a glorious day for some hot racing action, here today, at Marshfield Motor Speedway. With 28 Super Late Models vying for the top spot in the Central Wisconsin Challenge Series Championships – Earth Inc. 80-lap feature event, it was evident it would keep the large crowd on the edge of their seats. Motorcycles, 4-Cylinders, Junkyard Warriors, and Bandits also highlighted the evening’s festivities. Topping off the evening was one of the best fireworks displays ever scene in Central Wisconsin!

With over 30 children in the greeting line to send off the super late model drivers with well wishes, it was a start of the event that wouldn’t be forgotten. Unable to take the green flag today was star driver Mark Eswein. Eswein’s car started afire in practice earlier in the day. Mark was able to walk away, however, is racecar sustained heavy damage. Our well wishes go out to Mark and his entire race team. Also unable to take the green flag was Parker May who was involved in an accident in heat racing. Leading the 26-car field to the green flag was gentleman driver Don “Thunder” Turner of La Crosse, WI. Turner held off Brandon Selle for a couple of laps. Selle took over the race lead on lap 3 and kept that spot for a handful of laps, that was when a very fast Neil Knoblock charged to the front. Knoblock built a nice lead over Selle by lap 13, however, Patrick Barrett through the caution flag for a spin in turn one by Thunder Turner. Bryan Reffner got into the backside of Turner sending both drivers to the rear of the field. On the restart, point leader Jeremy Lepak took over second, bringing Chad Selk with him. Selk appeared to have a very fast racecar today as he roared to the front in a hurry. Unfortunately, Selk started to fade gradually as the race progressed with left front suspension problems. Moving up to the second position on lap 25 was Bangor’s Steve Holzhausen. On lap 30 of the 80-lap CWCSC feature event, Holzhausen would inherit the lead as Neil Knoblock dropped off the pace with brake failure. This was very unfortunate, as it appeared Knoblock had the car to beat today! With Steve Holzhausen cruising out front, Merrill’s Chris Weinkauf, in a Ed Holms prepared car, took over the runner-up spot with Lepak running third. On lap 55, things went South for Holzhausen as the leader of the race had to park his car due to overheating. Inheriting the lead was Weinkauf, with Lepak taking over second, and fast qualifier Eugene Gregorich taking over the third position. With Chris Weinkauf building a sizable lead, it appeared the best race would be for second between Jeremy Lepak and Eugene Gregorich. The two gentlemen driver battled nose to tail for numerous laps. Moving up from his 18th starting position to the fourth spot was Bloomer, WI driver Ronnie Rihn. Rihn, who of which is only in his second year of super late model racing, worked his way through the field like an experienced veteran driver. Rihn has already earned his first career feature win this year, under the direction of crew chief Chad Wood. Once the checkered flag flew, it was all Chris Weinkauf as he cruised to yet another feature win in the 2010 race season. Holding off a hard charging Eugene Gregorich and finishing second, was Jeremy Lepak. With Gregorich finishing third, Ronnie Rihn and Skylar Holzhausen rounded out the top five.

Lepak added to his point lead with one race remaining in the three-race series. It appears the championship may come down to Lepak and Chris Weinkauf, at the finale at Golden Sands Speedway on August 6th.

Fairchild, WI; June 26, 2010 – Racing continued tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway with some great racing action provided by all divisions competing. With the threat of storms in the region, it was great to have very few caution flags on the evening.

Highlighting the evening were the Super Late Models. Merrill’s Jason Weinkauf led the field to the green flag in the Super Late Model 25-lap feature event. Weinkauf held the lead for eight laps with heavy pressure from Eugene Gregorich and Jim Sauter, Jr. On lap nine, Gregorich edged past Weinkauf for the lead bringing Tomah’s Sauter, Jr. with him. Point leader, Sauter, Jr. was pressing hard on Gregorich for the lead. His pressing paid off as he cleared the Gregorich car, making an outside pass, on lap 16 of the 25-lap event. Looking fast in the #88 car was Rory Melbinger; Melbinger made contact with the front stretch wall at the start of the race, however, it didn’t seem to hinder his driving ability. Melbinger continued to run a very solid third position. Battling for the fourth spot was Weinkauf, Chad Selk, and Ben Pettis. With Selk and Weinkauf side by side, Pettis appeared to be waiting in the wings to make his move. Up front though, it was all Jim Sauter, Jr. as he built a 3-car advantage on Gregorich with Melbinger 2-car lengths off Gregorich for third. In the end, it was Sauter, Jr. winning and adding to his points lead. Gregorich, Melbinger, Weinkauf, Selk, and Pettis finished second through sixth respectively. Rounding out the top ten were Don Turner, Jay VanDerGeest, Brian Goodwin, and Jeff Weinfurter. Fast timer on the evening was Jim Sauter, Jr. with Eugene Gregorich winning the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash. Heat winners in the Super Late Model division were Jeff Weinfurter and Chad Selk.

When the D&D Amusement Games Super Stocks took to the track, it was Claire & Paige Decker leading the field to the green flag. Claire Decker led lap one with Ryan Hinner looking to take the lead. One lap later, Hinner did exactly that, took the lead with an outside pass exiting turn four. Hinner would continue to lead for the next four laps; that’s when Tim Hintz powered his way into the catbird seat. Hintz, making his first appearance of the season in the super stock division, looked fast all night. Randall Wilhorn followed suit with Hintz and made the pass on Hinner. With great racing for all positions, the focus was on Randall Wilhorn and Tim Hintz. Hintz appeared to be enjoying a comfortable lead, however, it was apparent that Wilhorn was cutting into the veteran driver’s lead. For Wilhorn, he just fell short of laps to get to Hintz’s back bumper as Tim Hintz once again visited the B&B Race Engines victory lane. With Wilhorn finishing second, heat winner Erin Schlough coming home third, Ryan Hinner and Paige Decker rounding out the top five. Hintz also captured the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash with Mike Gwidt earning the fast time award. Gwidt was unable to compete in the feature as he had engine troubles develop in heat action.

The 4 Cylinders hit the ½ mile paved oval once again this week and it was Jared Lindner and Don Dunow setting the early pace in feature action. Lindner edged out Dunow at the completion of the first lap. With Lindner continuing to lead, Gilman’s Steve Hauser was knocking on the door and took over the race lead. Once Derk Hauser cleared the machine of Lindner, he started putting heavy pressure on his father, Steve. Derk Hauser managed to race his way past his father for the race lead. Derk led the next 8 laps with his father right on his heels. Racing his way to the third spot was last week’s feature winner Austen Stump. Stump did a great job working his way through the field from his back of the field starting spot. With three laps remaining, Steve Hauser decided it was time to recapture the lead and he accomplished exactly that. With the two Hauser’s battling each other for the lead, Stump closed that gap slightly, however, the night belonged to the father/son combo of Steve & Derk Hauser. Steve Hauser earned another feature win and rang the victory bell in the winner’s circle. With Derk Hauser a solid second and Austen Stump coming home third, Jared Lindner and Rick Brandl rounded out the top five. Stump also collect fast time honors with Jared Lindner racing his way to a heat win.

Dominating the Junkyard Warrior class this year has been driver Gary Haarklau. Everything stayed status quo tonight as Haarklau once again proved to be the fastest car on the track. Haarklau tripped the clock fastest with a lap time of 24.616 earning fast time. In heat & feature action, Justin Baldwin put some pressure on Haarklau, but Haarklau was able to fend off any challenges that any driver offered. Finishing second in the feature was Justin Baldwin with Colletta Gomes finishing third and Marc Baldwin coming home in the fourth spot.

Continuing to hold the point lead in the Bandit division is Harry Bell. Bell’s car didn’t work as well as he would of liked tonight as he came home fifth in feature action. Dominating the night in the Bandit class was Tim Anderson. Anderson made it a clean sweep as he earned fast time and heat/feature races. Dan Broton looked strong again as he came home in second in feature action, with Roger Cochrane and Lee Gray finishing third and fourth respectively.

Next week at Marshfield Motor Speedway, the Central Wisconsin Challenge Series Championship Super Late Models will invade the speedway. The CWCSC is a 3-race series that also includes State Park Speedway and Golden Sands Speedway. This 80-lap Super Late Model event should provide much excitement for both drivers and fans! Motorcycles, 4 Cylinders, Junkyard Warriors & Bandits will also provide racing excitement for the evening. Concluding the Independence Day weekend night of racing will be a huge display of fireworks! Please visit us online at: www.marshfieldspeedway.com for further details.

Marshfield, WI; June 19, 2010 – Mother Nature finally allowed the Marshfield Motor Speedway faithful to enjoy a hot night of racing action. After two consecutive weeks of rainouts, the drivers were finally able to compete at the Master of Speed, Marshfield Motor Speedway!

With a full slate of racecars on hand, fans enjoyed some real competitive racing here Saturday night. Former La Crosse school teacher and baseball coach Don “Thunder” Turner grabbed the early lead from Brian Goodwin, once receiving the green flag from starter Patrick Barrett in the Super Late Model feature event. Turner held off a charging Jim Sauter, Jr. early, however, Sauter edged by the veteran driver on lap-6 to take over the top spot. Bloomer, WI native Ronnie Rihn made an outside pass of Turner on lap eight to take over the runner up position. Rihn, whom of which also races Midwest Modifieds on dirt, showed no ill affects of a nasty flip in his car, two weeks ago. Charging his way through the field from his twelfth starting position was Wausau’s MG Gajewski. Gajewski moved to the third position at the midway point of the race. Also looking very stout was that of Chili, WI driver Chad Selk. Selk worked his way past Jay VanDerGeest and Jason Weinkauf to climb into the top five by lap-20. Pressing hard on Sauter, Jr. for the lead was rookie driver Rihn. Not looking like a rookie though, Rihn edged by Sauter, Jr. on lap 22 of the 25-lap feature event. When Patrick Barrett threw the checkered flag, Ronnie Rihn became a first time feature winner at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Joining Ronnie in victory lane was a very happy father, Donnie Rihn, and the entire Rihn pit crew led by crew chief Chad Wood! Finishing a solid second and having a terrific year at several tracks was that of Jim Sauter, Jr. in a Wes Coon prepared super late model. Finishing third and racing for Team Wisz was Wausau driver MG Gajewski. Chad Selk may have had the fastest car on the track, but got caught up in traffic early and finished fourth. Winding up fifth and always fast wherever he goes was Merrill, WI driver and reigning track champion, Jason Weinkauf. Getting around the track fastest in qualifying was Jim Sauter, Jr. Heat 1 winner was MG Gajewski, with Ben Pettis winning Heat 2, racing for Redline Speedsports. The LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash winner was Chad Selk.

The D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks took to the ½ mile pavement for their 20-lap feature event. Leading the way to the green flag was Mark Challet and Terry Knupp. At the completion of lap-1 it was John Olson at the helm. Olson, who earlier in the evening captured a heat win, looked strong leading the first 6-laps. Knocking on his door however was a very fast Scott Luck. Luck cleared the machine of Olson and built a sizable lead. Cutting into Luck’s lead was that of point leader, Mike Gwidt. Gwidt drove by Olson at the midway point of the race and was driving down a very fast Luck racecar. Gwidt, who has been every bit of impressive thus far this season, appeared to be on his way to another feature win. However, moving into the runner up position with 4 laps remaining was Brian Back. Back appeared to have something for Gwidt and was cutting into his lead. With one-lap remaining, Back pulled up onto the rear bumper of Gwidt, but just ran out of time. Mike Gwidt scores yet another victory at Marshfield Motor Speedway. With Brian Back finishing second, brother, Greg Back edged out fast heat winner Scott Luck for the third spot. Another driver appearing to get his super stock figured out and finishing fifth, was rookie Randall Wilhorn of Nekoosa. Greg Back edged out brother, Brian Back for the win in the LiveWire Energy Chew Dash 4 Cash.

After a one-week hiatus, the 4-Cylinder’s were back on the agenda and putting on a great show per usual. Austin Stump set fast time tripping the clock at 22.669. Peter Bell led the field to the green flag and edged out Dennis Gortsch at the completion of lap-one. Swapping places after the next circuit, Gortsch took over the helm, with a very fast Austin Stump on his heels. With three laps in, Austin Stump made it three different leaders edging by Gortsch for the race lead. On the prowl though, was a very fast Derk Hauser. Hauser, who seemingly appears in the front of the field on a weekly basis, moved into second and had his sights set on a very fast Stump machine. Stump, who earlier in the evening earned his heat win, was looking to make it a clean sweep on the evening. Cruising out front with a 4 car-length lead, Stump would have to make a mistake for Hauser to reel him in. That wasn’t going to happen however, as Stump motored to his first career feature win and sweep of the 4-cylinder division here tonight, at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Gilman’s Derk Hauser finished second, with Dennis Gortsch, Neillsville’s Ron Sischo, and Rick Brandl rounding out the top five.

In the Junkyard Warrior Division, it was once again, all Gary Haarklau. Haarklau made it a clean sweep with wins in his heat and feature after early fast qualifier honors. Marshfield driver Marc Baldwin finished a respectful second in the feature and in his heat. Making his debut as a Junkyard Warrior driver was Justin Baldwin. Justin’s night ended early after being an innocent victim in a heat crash with Coletta Gomes. Gomes’ car appeared to break a part entering the first turn sending the young Baldwin nearly head on into the wall. Both drivers were okay, but unable to return to racing action this evening. Charlie Nickel drove his Warrior to a third place finish in feature action here tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway.

The exciting Bandits once again circled the track and put on another great show here tonight. Earning his first career fast time award was Roger Cochrane tripping the clock at 24.292. Leading the pack of Bandits to the green flag was Harry Bell. Buddy Barrow edged out Bell for the race lead on lap two with an outside pass entering turn three. Starting in the back of the field and quickly working his way through the field was Tim Anderson. Anderson climbed to the top spot on lap three and never looked back earning top honors in the feature event for the Bandits. Roger Cochrane raced to a second place finish with Matt Phelps coming home in third. Buddy Barrow and Harry Bell rounded out the top five finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Next week, June 26th, it’s Food Pantry Donation Night at the races. Fans donating a non-perishable food item will receive half off their admission. Also, the Marshfield Specialty Car Club will be touring the speedway with their antique/collector cars/trucks. Joining the Super Late Models will be the Super Stocks, 4-Cylinders, Junkyard Warriors, and Bandits, all competing at the Master of Speed. Please join us on Facebook or visit us online at www.marshfieldspeedway.com for all the up to date information in regards to Marshfield Motor Speedway.

Fairchild, WI; May 29, 2010 – Many past/present members of the Armed Forces were present to witness some great racing action, here, at Marshfield Motor Speedway, on Armed Forces Night at the Speedway!

Highlighting the warm evening of racing was the Super Late Models. Merrill, WI hot shoe Jay VanDerGeest led the field to the green flag in the 25-lap feature event. VanDerGeest looked to be the dominate car early on with Wisconsin Rapids driver Jeff Weinfurter hot on his heals. Jeremy Lepak was looking to work his way to the front of the field. Lepak, a highly talented driver from Wausau, moved his way past Adam White, Frank Thorton, and Jeff Weinfurter to claim the runner up position on lap six. With Lepak setting his sights on a very fast VanDerGeest, other drivers working their way through the field were Eugene Gregorich, Jr. and MG Gajewski. Gregorich and Gajewski were doing a tire test for the Goodyear Corporation. On lap 11, Lepak stuck his nose on the inside of VanDerGeest exiting turn two. The two drivers raced side by side for several laps with Lepak finally moving into the top spot. Eugene Gregorich was looking to go three wide as Thunder Turner and Adam White raced side by side. Once White cleared Turner, Gregorich charged past a group of drivers to move into the runner up spot. Lepak built up a huge lead on the field and looked like he was on cruise control. Gregorich had other ideas however, it was evident he was cutting into Lepak’s lead. Gregorich, one of the drivers on the Goodyear tire, hard charged his way to within three car lengths of a very fast Lepak at the conclusion of another caution free feature race at Marshfield Motor Speedway. With Gregorich and Gajewski on the Goodyear tire and not receiving points and postion for the night, your top five point getters were Lepak, VanDerGeest, Weinfurter, Jim Sauter, Jr., and a very fast Mark Eswein, whom of which got caught up in traffic early, finishing a respectful fifth. Fast qualifier this evening was Jim Sauter, Jr. Jason Weinkauf won the LiveWire Energy Chews Dash 4 Cash with Bloomer’s Ronnie Rihn and Jeremy Lepak taking home heat wins.

With the Motorcycles taking to the half-mile pavement, half a dozen brave cycle riders tested their skills to the limit tonight. Marshfield’s Cliff Eckes, Jr. set fast time with a 21.63 lap. In the six-lap heat race, the top quartet of Eckes, Kasten, Fedrowitz, and Lewis had a battle royale for the entire race with Kasten eking out the win over Eckes. In feature action, Steve Kasten once again assumed the lead off the starting line with the entire field breathing down his back. Sweeping two wide through the corners, the group of riders gave the Marshfield Motor Speedway crowd a big thrill! With several laps completed in the feature event, Bobby Fedrowitz’s handlebars came loose causing the rider to retire from the feature race. Fedrowitz gave the crowd a scare and thankfully there wasn’t a crash. A late race miscue in the form of a missed gear shift caused Kasten to bobble; the bobble caused Kasten and Eckes wide but Craig Lewis wasn’t close enough to capitalize on the mistake. Steve Kasten once again put his SK Service Yamaha into the winner’s circle tonight. Cliff Eckes, Jr., Craig Lewis, Wooky Eckes, Ted Strebe, and Bobby Fedrowitz finished second through sixth respectfully. For more information on motorcycle racing in Wisconsin, you can contact Woody Eckes at: cliffscycle@aol.com.

The D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks took the ½ mile pavement once again tonight with Marv Flick leading the group to the start of the 20-lap feature event. Star drivers Mark Langreck and Bruce Stanley were unable to compete as the two drivers were caught up in a heat race incident, not of their fault. Terry Knupp edged by Flick on the first lap and continued to lead until Scott Luck decided it was his turn to lead. Luck continued to lead while Ryan Hinner and Brian Weinfurter battled for the runner up spot. As Wausau ace driver Mike Gwidt worked his way through the field, Weinfurter finally edged by Hinner for second. At the halfway point of the race, it was still Scott Luck in control of the race. By this time however, Gwidt worked his way to third and was starting to put heavy pressure on a very fast Weinfurter. On lap 13, Gwidt worked his way past Weinfurter setting his sights on Mr. Luck. Two laps later, Gwidt power his Rick Grunden prepared machine past a very quick Luck. Another driver looking very fast was that of Greenwood’s Erin Schlough. Schlough worked his way through the field and past Weinfurter for third with only 3-laps remaining. It wasn’t enough time however for Schlough to advance his position, as Gwidt and Luck checked out on the field. Once official starter Patrick Barrett through the checkered flag, it was all Mike Gwidt. The young talented driver drove his way to, yet, another feature win. Scott Luck, Schlough, Weinfurter, and Ryan Hinner were the balance of the top five drivers here tonight in the D & D Amusement Games feature event. Gwidt covered the field in qualifying and heat action, with Weinfurter taking home the checkered flag in the LiveWire Dash 4 Cash.

One of the fan favorite classes to take part in racing action at the speedway is that of the 4-Cylinders. Heat winner Paul Berg led the field of 16 cars to the green flag. Berg and Ron Sischo battled for the top spot with Berg getting the advantage and taking over the top spot. With Berg having a strong hold on the field, drivers working their way to the forefront were Steve and Derk Hauser. The two Gilman, WI drivers worked their way from the back to second and third respectfully by lap-15. With one lap remaining in the race, Don Dunno and Adam Eckes collected each other exiting turn 4 bringing out the caution flag. Prior to the caution flag, Paul Berg received the white flag, thus the race was considered complete. Berg out ran fast timer Derk Hauser and Steve Hauser to earn his first feature win in 2010. Fast heat winner Austin Stump and newcomer to the division, Tim Anderson finished fourth and fifth respectfully.

The Junkyard Warriors would conclude the exciting racing action on this warm Memorial Day weekend. Colletta Gomes was looking to take home another feature win this evening in her number 9 machine. Gomes has proved to be the top driver in the Junkyard Warrior Division thus far this year. Looking to get his first feature win of the year was this evening’s fast timer, Gary Haarklau. Haarklau also collected the heat win earlier in the evening and was in hopes of having a clean sweep. Last week’s clean sweep winner was Auburndale’s Sam Suddeth. At the start of the race, Haarklau edged by Gomes for the lead on lap two. Once clearing Gomes, Haarklau built up a three-car length lead on a hard charging Suddeth. Suddeth battled Haarklau inside on every corner for the final five laps, however, Haarklau would out power Suddeth down the ½ mile track’s front/back shoots. In the end, it was Gary Haarklau pulling off and exciting win beating Suddeth to the finish line by a car length. Colletta Gomes finished third with Marshfield’s Marc Baldwin winding up fourth.

Next week, it’s Glen Katzenberger Memorial Night & Senior Citizen Night at the races. All seniors 65 and over will receive free admission. Please visit us online at: www.marshfieldspeedway.com for all the up to date information regarding Marshfield Motor Speedway. Also, please join us on Facebook.

September 15, 2009; Marshfield, WI: – Eight two wheeled warriors blasted out some fast laps on the MMS blacktop today. Lee Johnson of Big Flats, WI timed in with the fastest lap at 21.28 seconds on the half mile paved oval. In the six-lap motorcycle heat, rocket starter Bobby Fedrowitz blazed away off the line to the early lead, only to fall to a blistering attack by Ringle, WI rider, Mark Zeidler. Fedrowitz shadowed Zeidler’s every move waiting for a mistake, while Lee Johnson and Cliff Eckes followed in their draft.

In the ten lap feature event, again, it was Bobby Fedrowitz controlling the start. However, it was Zeidler who swept past coming out of turn two to assume the lead. The front four, Zeidler, Fedrowitz, Eckes, and Johnson inched away from the rest of the pack to settle the top spots. Fedrowitz came under attack for the second spot from both Eckes and Johnson. Being relegated back to fourth, Fedrowitz put in a mighty effort to retake his position, however, he lost traction coming out of turn two and slid sideways off the racing line. Once Fedrowitz regained traction, his vision was on Lee Johnson for the third position. Meanwhile, Cliff Eckes was stalking the leader Mark Zeidler, and reeled him in as Zeidler’s tires started to go away. Closer and closer with each corner, Eckes perched his nose on Zeidler’s rear wheel, taking his last shot at passing a very fast Zeidler. Entering turn three on the last lap, Zeidler went low and Eckes the high side; Eckes then swooped to the low end coming out of turn four in a mad dash to the checkers. Scant inches were the margin of victory as Mark Zeidler held off a hard charging Cliff Eckes for the win!

September 13, 2009; Fairchild, WI – Fans from abroad were treated to summer like weather for our Annual Fall Spectacular, here, Sunday afternoon at Marshfield Motor Speedway. The highlight of the day was the Wisconsin Challenge Series season championship race with several drivers vying for the season crown.

Nekoosa, WI driver Tim Hintz led the 26-car field to the green in the WCS Championship 80 Super Late Model feature event. Neil Knoblock pulled out to the early lead with Hintz and Andrew Morrissey closely running second and third. Two laps later, Morrissey and Knoblock battled side by side for the top spot. Exiting turn four on lap 5, Morrissey and Knoblock got together causing damage to both cars. Knoblock eventually had to pull into the pits because the received damage on the Knoblock car was too severe to continue. Morrissey on the other hand, was able to continue. Morrissey held the top spot and appeared to have the car to beat. However, damage from the earlier incident with Neil Knoblock proved to be costly. The Southern Wisconsin driver had a broken fender, of which was rubbing on his right front fender. With each lap, the smoke began to get even worse from the damaged Morrissey racecar. With the tire smoke increasingly thickening, drivers to the rear of Morrissey were having issues with visibility. Furthermore, being a safety issue for Andrew Morrissey and the rest of the field, starter Patrick Barrett had no choice but to throw the black flag for the gentleman driver who was leading the race. On the restart, it appeared that the young driver from Bangor, WI had the car to beat. Being able to race in both grooves proved advantageous for Skylar Holzhausen. Once Holzhausen got the lead, his only thought was if his competitor’s cars were as good as his. Driver Mark Eswein appeared to have one of those cars; the veteran driver, who calls Wisconsin Rapids, WI home, seems to relish winning track championships. Mr. Eswein added another championship to his resume as he won the track championship at Golden Sands Speedway. On this day, all Mark Eswein had to do was stay in front of Chris Weinkauf and Steve Holzhausen, and the championship was his. As did Skylar Holzhausen, Mark Eswein was also able to pass cars through either groove, allowing himself the opportunity to put his machine into the runner up position. A few laps later, caution would fly once again as Jim Duchow got into the machine of Elliott Weiler on the backstretch. Once the green flew on the restart, it was for the last time as the final 58 laps ran caution free. As drivers jockeyed for position, it appeared the inside was the groove of choice. It appeared that there were only a handful of cars that actually could pass on the inside, or, race in either groove competitively. Steve Holzhausen, Tim Schendel, and Jason Weinkauf worked their way into the top five by lap 47. As the race progressed, Skylar Holzhausen continued to hold his lead on Mark Eswein, as both drivers appeared to have equally prepared cars. Once the white flag flew, there was no change in the running order. Skylar Holzhausen captured his first WCS feature win much to the delight of the Marshfield Motor Speedway fans! Placing second was Mark Eswein; by positioning himself in front of Chris Weinkauf and Steve Holzhausen, allows Mark Eswein the opportunity to call himself the 2009 Wisconsin Challenge Series Champion! Finishing strong in the third position was Bangor’s Steve Holzhausen. Being interviewed by track announcer Michael Barrett after the race, Steve Holzhausen commented that the only way he would have been able to pass his son for the win would have been to unplug one of his plug wires! Having an impressive run and finishing fourth was Sparta, WI driver Tim Schendel. Winding out the top five was 2009 Marshfield Motor Speedway track champion, Jason Weinkauf.

In the D & D Amusement Games CWSSA feature event, Nekoosa’s Ben Capek led a very competitive group of drivers to the line for their 25-lap main event. Marv Flick, who calls Stevens Point, WI home, jumped out to the early lead. Closely behind Flick were Matt Pyburn and Matt Raykowski. Reffner, who was crowned track champion one week earlier, appeared to be on a rail. Starting twelfth, Reffner worked himself into the third position by lap eight. Two laps later, Reffner made the pass of Flick for the top spot. Brian Back, who also started deep in the field, also had a very good car. Back, who reigns from Vesper, WI, positioned himself in the runner up position on lap eleven. Rick Grunden made some nice passes of his counterparts and looked to be hooked up and ready to better his position even more. Grunden appeared to be better as the race progressed and looked better on the long runs. Brian Back made every attempt to cut into the lead of Colin Reffner, however, Reffner was too much today and cruised to his first Fall Spectacular Feature win! Brian Back, Rick Grunden, Matt Pyburn, and Matt Raykowski rounded out the top five. Heat winners today were Jason Dummer and Erin Schlough.

The 4-Cylinders once again took to the half-mile paved oval and had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Jumping out to the early lead from his fifth starting position was Neillsville, WI driver Ron Sischo. Sischo looked very fast early as he paced the field of 14 cars. Also moving up quickly was Jeremiah Strauss passing cars inside and outside. Unfortunately for the Neillsville, WI driver, he had to exit the race early for transmission problems. Starting tenth and moving to the second position by lap seven was track champion Randall Wilhorn. Wilhorn also had some car issues, fading and costing him a chance at the Fall Spectacular feature event. Stealing the lead from Sischo was the brightly painted orange car of Bo Bennish. Bennish would lead the next five laps. On the move and looking for his first 4-Cylinder feature of the win of the year, was Greenwood, WI driver Erin Schlough. Schlough got some good bite off corner two and shot to the inside of Bennish. By the time the two drivers got to the third turn, Schlough was able to clear Bennish for the top spot. As other drivers battled for position, Schlough built up a nice lead. Two drivers on the move and looking to knock Schlough out of the top spot however, was that of the Gilman, WI father/son combo of Steve and Derk Hauser. Working their way from the back of the field to the second and third place positions was very impressive. Another driver that looked impressive was Austin Stump. Stump, who calls Willard, WI home, spun early and worked back to the fourth position by lap 18. In the end however, it was Erin Schlough crossing the line first and winning the Fall Spectacular feature event. Steve Hauser and Derk Hauser finished second and third respectively. Rounding out the top five was Austin Stump and Phil Malouf. Heat winners today were Bo Bennish and Derk Hauser.
