ASA MIDWEST TOUR INVADES THE 1/2 MILE OF MARSHFIELD!
STEVE HOLZHAUSEN MAKES COME BACK AFTER AUGUST 2010 RACING ACCIDENT!
Fairchild, WI, June 29, 2011 – With perfect weather conditions expected, race fans are in for a treat when the ASA Midwest Tour hits the paved oval of Marshfield Motor Speedway!
“I am extremely excited for this event, I expect this to be the best ASAMT race event thus far this year” stated GM-Promoter Wayne Brevik. “With, in my eyes, the best drivers in America in our own backyard, this race should prove to ignite much fireworks of it’s own kind”, further stated Brevik.
Nationwide driver Tim Schendel is having one of the best years of racing and knows Marshfield very well. He has tutored young Matt Tifft in feature action this year at Marshfield, and Tifft, a Ohio resident, took home his second checkered flag of the year last Saturday night at MMS.
Ross Kenseth has made a statement this year with numerous wins in the ASAMT. Last year, he pocketed a feature win at Marshfield and should prove to be a force when the flag falls for the Marshfield 100!
Other drivers that have shown much potential at Marshfield are Chris Weinkauf, a multi-feature winner at the 1/2 mile paved oval. Griffin McGrath has visited the track numerous times and always has been a top competitor. Steve Carlson will be looking to notch another feature win at MMS, and the Minnesota contingent has always been strong at MMS. Jonathan Eilen, Nick Murgic, Jacob Goede! Last year’s winner, Chris Wimmer will be a major threat and has always tripped the clock fast at MMS. One of the most consistant drivers this year has been Andrew Morrissey. Despite the track size, Morrissey may be one of the most consistant drivers in the series this year. Being only 11 points back of Kenseth, Morrissey is looking to pocket the win at Marshifeld and go home with the points lead.
Many locals are extremely exciting to watch the return of Bangor’s Steve Holzhausen. Holzhausen, who suffered numerous leg injuries in a violent crash at Wisconsin Dells last August, is making his return to racing this Saturday in the ASAMT event at Marshfield Motor Speedway. “I contemplated coming back last week at State Park Speedway, but my car owner, Pete Kempf asked that I wait a week and comeback at Marshfield”, stated Holzhausen. Holzhausen, whom of which has numerous victories at MMS, most likely will be the fan favorite to win the Marshfield 100!
Last year’s Yellow River Racing Series Champion and ASAMT regular, Mark Kraus, will also be looking to notch another win at Marshfield. Kraus, a Stratford, WI resident, is another fan favorite at MMS and is looking for a podium finish at his local track.
Marshfield local drivers that have had much success at the track in recent years and are looking to knock off the ASAMT regulars are, Dean LaPointe, Cardell Potter, Ronnie Rihn, and current point leader Randall Wilhorn.
Fan gates open at 3pm and admission is just $15 for adults, students 9 to 14 is $10, and Children 8 and under are free!
Marshfield Motor Speedway has a full-service bar that provides air conditioning and closed circuit tv of the live racing events.
