Jay M. Loos, 45, Colby, formerly of Marathon, died suddenly and unexpectedly Monday, April 5, 2010, surrounded by his family at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

He was born Dec. 22, 1964, in Wausau to the late Marion Kroll.

Jay, known by his many friends as “Sammy,” was a Jack-of-all-trades. He also enjoyed going to the races, four-wheeling and riding his bicycle and motorcycle. Mostly, he loved helping people. Jay was always “there” for you — to help you, lend a hand, plow snow, mow lawn or drive 100 miles, just because you called. It did not matter what for, if you needed him, he was there.

Jay played with many area polka bands, including the Polka Country Drifters, Harmony Aces, Ken Scheffler and The Relatives, and the Ricky Westfall Band.

Besides his mother, Marion, he was preceded in death by one sister, Julie Schauer.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. today, April 8, 2010, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon. The Rev. John Roseth will officiate. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service today at the funeral home.
