Marshfield, WI, (September 7, 2013) – After a long race season that started in early May, drivers and fans alike were finally going to be able to know who would be crowned 2013 Marshfield Motor Speedway champions!  On a warm September day, the weather was perfect for fans to enjoy a competitive night of racing action!

Once the Super Late Models took to the track for their season championship featue event, it was Travis Volm and Andy Monday leading the way to the green flag.  Volm, in his first night ever in a super late model at Marshfield Motor Speedway, would grab the early lead away from Monday.  Volm, who earlier in the night won his heat race, would build a 6 car length lead over the rest of the pack.  By lap nine, Ben Pettis made his way to second with an outside pass on Andy Monday.  Pettis, who earlier in the year had multiple dnf’s (did not finish), with ignition issues, was looking to end the year on a positive note.  Once the drivers received the halfway indicaton from starter Geno Eckes, it was still Travis Volm the race leader.  However, on lap 19, it was Pettis motoring to the outside of the Volm machine for the race lead.  Pettis started building up a lead for himself as Colin Reffner and Travis Volm race side by side for second for numerous laps.  Once the drivers reached the 23rd lap, it was still Volm and Reffner battling side by side for the runnerup position.  One lap later however, coming off turn four, the two young drivers made contact sending the 7-11 race car sliding hundreds of feet down the frontstretch.  Amazingly, Volm was able to keep his race car off the inside and outside walls.  Unfortunately, the two drivers were sent to the rear of the field for their contact and bringing out the caution.  Also, with the aforementioned caution, that also didn’t help Ben Pettis as his sizeable lead was relinquished!  On the restart, it was Eugene Gregorich getting by Ben Pettis for the race lead.  With Gregorich and Pettis comfortly holding down the first and second position, Tim Hintz and Dean LaPointe were in a competitive battle for the third positon.  With six laps remaining, Dean LaPointe edged by Hintz as Hintz’s car slipped slightly coming off the corner.  Back out front, it was still Gregorich, Jr. holding the lead over Pettis, with fast heat winner Dean LaPointe now looking for the second position.  However, once the drivers crossed the finish line, it was Gregorich, Jr. notching the win & the 2013 championship.  Ironically, with Pettis finishing second, he also finished second in the point standings, which is amazing with all the dnf’s he incured earlier in the season.  With Dean LaPointe taking third, it was fast timer Colin Reffner working his was back to the fourth position with another great run for the Wisconsin Rapids, WI hotshoe!  It was MG Gajewski edging out Don “Thunder” Turner and Travis Volm at the line for the fifth position!  Gregorich, Jr. also won the Napa of Marshfield Dash 4 Cash event.

The X-treme 4’s hit the track tonight and it was the #16 car of Adam Kryzkowski setting fast time with a lap time of 22.170 seconds.  In heat action, it was Adam Eckes and Derk Hauser gaining the wins!  Once the feature took the green flag for their 20-lap main event, it was Danielle Behn and Derk Hauser leading the way.  Hauser’s car looked extremely fast as he pulled away from the field.  By lap 5, Adam Kryzkowski started moving in a little bit on the leader Hauser.  Unfortunately for Kryzkowski, it appeared he loss some of his power and drifting back in the field.  However, one man’s misfortune, was another’s fortune!  Not sure if the Kryzkowski machine would of eclipsed the Derk Hauser car or not, as Hauser looked to be hooked up on all four corners of the racing facility.  The best battle on the track was that of Rick Brandl and Adam Eckes!  With Derk Hauser enjoying a 10-car length lead, it was Brandl and Eckes battling side by side for the runner up position.  After racing nine laps side by side, it was Eckes finally getting the extra bite off turn two and advancing to the second position.  Brandl, who is enjoying an exceptional second half to the race season, wasn’t about to give up on Eckes.  Brandl got to the tail section of Eckes several times, but just wasn’t able to get close enough to attempt a pass.  Earning his first feature win of the year, was Derk Hauser as he had the field covered tonight.  With Eckes and Brandl finishing second and third respectively, it was Steve Hauser coming home in fourth, and Phil Malouf rounding out the top five!  With his second place finish, Adam Eckes wins the X-treme 4’s championship at MMS.

In CWSSA Super Stock action, it was John Zuch earning his first career feature event at Marshfield Motor Speedway!  2013 Track Champion Phil Malouf earned fast time honors along with the heat win, but finished second to Zuch in the feature event.  With an impressive year, Aaron Anderson was runner up to Malouf in championship points.  Tonight, it was Anderson finishing third in the feature event.
