Fairchild, WI – July 14, 2012 – It was the Bill Sherman Memorial & Immanual Lutheran Church Night tonight at Marshfield Motor Speedway, and outside of a very brief shower, the fans were treated to a beautiful night of action packed racing!

It was leg two of three in the Earth Incorporated Yellow River Racing Series super late model feature event, here tonight, at Marshfield Motor Speedway.  On the start, it was Jim Sauter, Jr. and Chad Selk filling the void in the front row, and Jason Weinkauf and Dean LaPointe in row two.  It was Sauter, Jr. leading the way for the first 8 laps in this, a 65 lap main event.  One lap later, it was Merrill, WI hotshoe Jason Weinkauf taking the lead away from Sauter, Jr. with an inside pass.  Weinkauf, who calls Marshfield Motor Speedway his home track, looked extremely fast as he stretched his lead over Sauter, Jr.  Further back, it was Cardell Potter working his way to the third position, with Jordan Thiel climbing to fourth in the Wisz Racing entry.  On lap 23, Potter was able to clear the stock car of Sauter, Jr. for the runner up position.  On lap 33, caution flew for an incident on the backstretch in which Matt Tifft and Jordan Thiel made contact with each other, sending the Tifft car wildly off the backstretch and up onto the backstretch hill.  The Ohio native of Tifft, was able to drive away and re enter the race on the restart.  Once the field chose their lane for the restart, it was once again Jason Weinkauf at the helm with Cardell Potter in second, and Bangor, WI ace, Steve Holzhausen in the third position.  As it looked, Potter made several attempts at Weinkauf for the lead, but just couldn’t get close enough to make the pass on the machine of Weinkauf.  As Potter slipped a bit, it was Steve Holzhausen taking advantage and powered his Kempf’s Logging sponsored stock car to the second position.  Holzhausen now had 18-laps to decide how he wanted to make an attempt on takng over the lead in this special Yellow River Racing Series feature event.  Holzhausen looked to the inside of Weinkauf several times and closed on Weinkauf.  It looked as if Weinkauf’s machine may have been pushing slightly as Holzhausen was able to cleanly look to the inside of Weinkauf. On lap 50, Steve Holzhausen pulled alongside of Weinkauf to the inside, and the two drivers raced side by side for several laps.  Finally, it was Holzhausen clearing the stock car of Weinkauf for the race lead.  Another driver working his way from the back of the field was Randall Wilhorn.  Wilhorn’s car looked equally fast as the leaders, but just had to work his #88 machine through much traffic.  Working his way back to the front after an earlier caution was Jordan Thiel.  Thiel, by lap 51, raced his way all the way back to the sixth position battling a very fast and competitive Colin Reffner.  Back up front, however, it was Holzhausen by two car lengths over Weinkauf for the race lead.  Once starter Geno Eckes threw the checkered flag, it was Steve Holzhausen pocketing the win over Weinkauf and Cardell Potter.  Finishing fourth and fifth respectively was Randall Wilhorn and Jim Sauter, Jr.  Matt Tifft was the evening’s fast timer, with Dean LaPointe nabbing the Dash 4 Cash.  Heat winners tonight were Cory Jankowski, Jim Sauter, Jr., and Colin Reffner.
