Fairchild, WI; May 22, 2010 – As race fans swarmed into Marshfield Motor Speedway here Saturday night, Mother Nature provided some great weather for the fans in hopes of viewing some great racing action.

The Super Late Models provided much excitement for the large crowd, here Saturday night. Don “Thunder” Turner of LaCrosse led the field to the green flag in the 25-lap feature event.  Thunder’s lead was brief however as Jeff Weinfurter inched by on the outside on lap one.  By lap four, Jason Weinkauf, Chad Selk, and Fast Timer Tim Sauter looked to be the drivers moving forward in a hurry.  One lap later, defending track champion Jason Weinkauf swiped the lead away from Weinfurter. Sauter, in a Deon prepared Jay VanDerGeest hot rod, looked to be very quick with four new slicks bolted on.  Crossing the start/finish line on lap 10, Sauter nudged his way past Weinfurter for the runner up position.  Sauter, a Necedah, WI native and past ASA National Champion, wasn’t about to settle for second place. He drove by Weinkauf on the low side exiting turn one on lap 11.  Another car working his car forward was that of Tomah, WI driver, Jim Sauter, Jr.  Sauter, Jr. moved into the fourth position and was knocking on Weinfurter’s door for third. In the end though, Weinfurter was too good in the corners holding off Sauter, Jr. for the podium finish. With Tim Sauter cruising to the easy win, Weinkauf looked strong winding up second.  Jim Sauter, Jr. and Eugene Gregorich, Jr. finished fourth and fifth respectively.  Rory Melbinger won the Dash 4 Cash, with Adam White and Jason Weinkauf victorious in the Super Late Model heats.

The D & D Amusement Games Super Stocks took to the track with Kyle Andrich and Marv Flick leading the way in the 20-lap main event.  Andrich stole the early lead away from Flick with Ryan Hinner running a close third. On lap 4, Flick decided it was his turn to lead, the two drivers raced side-by-side for several laps. In the first 11 laps, Flick and Andrich traded leads 5 times.  Randall Wilhorn decided he seen enough of the two drivers in front of him, the youngster from Nekoosa blew by and put himself in the captain’s chair.  Wilhorn, who was very fast, had a mirror full of fast timer Michael Gwidt. Gwidt, who is fast wherever he goes, followed Wilhorn for three laps.  On lap 15, Gwidt moved past Wilhorn for the lead bringing Colin Reffner with him.  Once in the lead and having a lead built up on Reffner, it was evident that Gwidt was the man to beat.  Cruising to the win was Wausau’s Gwidt with Colin Reffner and Mark Langreck your top three finishers. John Olson and Erin Schlough rounded out the top five.  Andrich and Wilhorn scored wins in their repective heats with Randall Wilhorn scoring a win in the Dash 4 Cash as well.

Next up on the card was the always exciting 4-Cylinders.  With 20-laps on the scoreboard, drivers from the rear of the field should have plenty of time to work themselves to the front.  With this, heat winner Rick Brandl jumped out to an early and impressive lead.  Brandl stretched his lead to 7 car lengths over Peter Bell and Adam Eckes.  By lap six, Eckes managed to streak by Bell for the runner up spot.  Adam’s hold on second was brief as Gilman, WI drivers Steve and Derk Hauser powered their way from the rear of the field to second and third respectively.  The father & son combo sling shot past a fast Brandl at the halfway point of the 20-lap feature event.  Hauser & Hauser looked to have the field covered. The two drivers raced side-by-side for several laps allowing Eau Claire, WI driver Paul Berg, and Willard’s Austin Stump to close the gap somewhat.  Berg stuck his nose in on Steve Hauser several times, but Steve Hauser just had too much horse down the shoots.  Getting the checkered flag from starter Patrick Barrett was that of Derk Hauser.  Fast timer and father of Derk, Steve Hauser finished in a close second. Paul Berg was very impressive winding up in the third position.  Austin Stump and Rick Brandl finished a very respectful 4th and 5th.

The Junkyard Warriors hit the track for another exciting feature race.  These drivers always put on a great show, and tonight wasn’t going to be any different.  Charlie Nickel was on the point for this exciting feature event with an always, exciting Marc Baldwin to his outside.  In the first four laps of this feature, four drivers took turns leading. Nickel, Gary Haarklau, Sam Sudduth, and Coletta Gomes all took their turns leading!  Caution flew on lap 4 with Haarklau and Sudduth getting together on the front stretch.  The two drivers spun wildly down the track narrowly missing the inside retainer wall.  Both drivers escaped damage and were able to continue.  It didn’t take Sudduth long to work his way through the pack, the Auburndale, WI driver, who earlier in the evening was the fast qualifier and heat winner, was back on the point by lap five.  With Sudduth out front and on cruise control, the only battle left was that of Haarklau and Gomes.  With Sudduth taking the checkered flag, Coletta Gomes nudged out Haarklau for second. Charlie Nickel outlasted Baldwin for fourth.

In our newest class at Marshfield Motor Speedway, the Bandits proved to be very exciting for the large crowd that came out to the speedway.  Matt Phelps and Corey Stephens led the way to the green flag.  Stephens took the early advantage with Lee Gray hot on his heels. Once getting by Stephens, Gray built up a sizable lead with Dan Broten following in his tire tracks.  Roger Cochrane pressed hard on Stephens for third, however Stephens fought off the driver to retain the third position.  Christine Schmude, Harry Bell and Matt Phelps were having their own battle in the middle of the pack.  Up front though, it was all Lee Gray, he stole the show and cruised to an exciting Bandit feature win.  Dan Broton was also very impressive finishing a very respectable second place.  Rounding out the top five was that of Corey Stephens, Roger Cochrane, and Matt Phelps.  Fast qualifier award went to Lee Gray, with heat honors going to Dan Broton.

Next Saturday, it is Armed Forces Night at the speedway. Service people showing their military ID will be admitted free!  Please visit us online at: www.marshfieldspeedway.com or join us on Facebook for up to date information.
