Eau Claire, WI Driver Brian Hudson Pockets Feature Win
ANDERSON CONTINUES WINNING WAYS IN X-TREME 4’S!
Marshfield, WI – (June 29, 2013) – After losing an engine on opening night at Marshfield Motor Speedway, Eau Claire, WI driver Brian Hudson was focused on changing his bad luck, once he returned to MMS!
Hudson, a second year Bandit driver at Marshfield, paced the field in qualifying with a lap time of 22.901. Eric Robinson, who has been fast all year, was second to Hudson in qualifying. Kevin Burris, Dillon Mackesy, and Bobby Sheldon, rounded out the top five is qualifying!
In heat action, Nikki Coulhurst jumped out to the early lead. Coulhurst’s lead was brief however, as Brian Hudson took over the lead on the second lap, and went on for the win. Eric Robinson and Kevin Burris finished second and third respectively.
Once the Bandits took to the track for their feature event, it was Corey Stephens and Nikki Coulhurst leading the pack to the green flag. Coulhurst would lead lap one, but new-comer Bobby Sheldon took over the lead entering turn two on the second lap. Sheldon held the lead until lap four, that was when Brian Hudson took over the helm. Hudson, in his second trip to the track tonight, was nothing short of sensational. When asked of his success tonight, Hudson stated, “It’s just one of those nights that everything clicks, I’m so excited, finally we’re in victory lane.” With Hudson capturing the feature win, it was Kevin Burris putting the heat on Hudson and finishing second. Eric Robinson, Nikki Coulhurst, and Bobby Sheldon rounding out the top five.
In the X-Treme 4’s feature event, it was Scott Ciesielski grabbing the lead early. Ciesielski’s lead was in jeopardy however, as Brandon Herr moved to the outside of Ciesielski for the race lead. Herr, who calls Greenwood, WI home, took over the top spot on laps 3-5. Fast timer Adam Eckes, by lap 6, had found his way to the front of the pack from his 13th place starting position. It was evident that Eckes had the car to beat as his car ran through the corners better than most. Eckes jumped out to a 4-car length lead over, now runner up driver, Charles Dixon. Dixon has been another fast car throughout the 2013 season and has worked hard at his set up for MMS. By lap 10 of the 20-lap feature event, it was Tim Anderson working his way to second, overcoming Dixon as the two drivers exited turn 4. Anderson, who is the points leader, was gradually cutting into the lead that Eckes had built for himself. It appeared that Anderson and Eckes were getting through the corners equally. The two drivers raced side by side for the lead for several laps, and 3-4 car lengths back, it was Steve Hauser and Derk Hauser battling for the third position. With two laps remaining, it was Anderson moving past Eckes for the race lead. A few car lengths back, it was Derk Hauser getting past Steve Hauser for the third position. When the leaders came out of turn 4 to get the checkered flag, it was Eckes making one last effort to pass Anderson, however, it was Anderson holding of Eckes by a half a car length for the feature win. The father and son combo, speaking of the Hauser’s, also raced door to door for the third spot, with Derk grabbing the spot away from father, Steve! Phil Malouf and Brandon Herr both had very competitive races finishing fifth and sixth respectively. Brandon Herr and Tim Anderson also collected heat wins tonight in the X-Treme 4’s Division.
