Point Leaders Hintz, Reffner, Strauss, Mork, and Anderson Looking to Fend Off Challengers

Posted under Race Reports by Wayne Brevik on May 28th, 2009

With racing resuming this Saturday night at Marshfield Motor Speedway, the current point leaders are looking to continue to fend off all challengers!

Tim Hintz, last season’s track champion, has many competitors looking to take his crown away. Jason Weinkauf appears to be very fast this season, despite his horrific crash on opening night. Rob Vanderloop, a Fox Valley veteran, is also setting a very fast pace. Marshfield’s Dean LaPointe, a local favorite, has his sights on his first championship this season in the super late model division. It goes without saying that anyone of a dozen drivers in this competitive division, could win a feature anytime during the season. With Jay VanDerGeest, Chris Weinkauf, Travis Stebane, Jeff Weinfurter, and sophomore sensation Chad Selk climbing in their race cars, they are always a threat to carry the checkered flag. Other drivers looking to capture feature wins are Paul Knauf, coming over from the dirt racing ranks, and Phillips driver Jack Greenwood.

Colin Reffner and Brian Weinfurter have put on a great show thus far for the crowd. It appears it will be a battle right into September with these drivers. Mark Langreck might have something to say about that though, he has been very consistent and patient, and looks to have a couple feature wins in his car. Erin Schlough and Matt Raykowski also look good this early part of the season.

Jeremiah Strauss is simply sensational. The Neillsville, WI driver and pretty much dominated thus far this season. Strauss earned his first clean sweep last weekend at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Derk and Steve Hauser also look very fast with Don Dunow being no slouch as well. Other noteables looking good are Ron Sischo, Randal Wilhorn, Wayne Elmhorst, and Austin Stump.

Ryan Mork has pretty much done some major damage wherever he races his pure stock. Mork, under the guidance of crew chief Mike Havel, looks to add another championship to his resume. Kyle Genett and Darren Jackson might have something to say about that however, both drivers look to be on their A game in pursuit of victories!

The Junkyard Warriors always put on a great show at the speedway. Tim Anderson is currently holding a slim margin over Chad Kaser for the point lead. Sam Sudduth, Kyle Rasmussen, and Dustin Paul also have hopes of winning the championship this year. Other drivers looking to work their way into victory lane are Marc Baldwin and Star Phelps.

June 13th will be the second leg of the Wisconsin Challenge Series at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Mark Eswein battled Chris Weinkauf for the opener win at Golden Sands Speedway last Monday. Other drivers competing in the Nasonville Dairy & Weber’s Farm Store WCS 80 will be Tim Hintz, Eugene Gregorich, Steve Holzhausen, Jason Weinkauf, Kenny Reiser, and Nascar driver, Tim Sauter.Look for a complete drivers list on our website at:
