August 11, 2007; Marshfield, WI: – The RZ Builders LLC and Lamar Advertising night at the races proved to be exciting with lots of close racing action to the checkers. Jay VanDerGeest earned his second super late model fast time tonight. Brian Back was again the top qualifier for the super stock division. Nine motorcyclists tripped the clock in time trials with Mark Zeidler of Ringle showing the way with a time of 20.923 for fast time. Kyle Genett would take the pure stock qualifying top honors.

The CarQuest super late model feature showed three lead changes in a 25 lap caution free contest. Jeff Weinfurter took the early lead of the field taking them through the first seven circuits. Behind him, M.G. Gajewski, Ben Pettis and Jeremy Switlick all waiting for their chance at the lead. Pettis would take second from Gajewski on lap five, and then worked the lead away from Weinfurter. Switlick was hot on his heels overtaking Weinfurter for second on lap nine. Eugene Gregorich Jr., Tim Hintz, Jay VanDerGeest and Chris Weinkauf were steadily coming to the from of the field. A battle for the lead ensued, as Pettis stayed in the high groove, and Switlick worked the inside. Lap 13, Switlick wrestled the lead from Pettis. Pettis continued in a strong second as Gregorich, VanDerGeest and Weinkauf chased after a better spot. The trio worked their way past Weinfurter, but were unable to overtake Pettis for second. Switlick would earn his second 2007 super late model feature win and the Beway Race Products feature win award. Pettis second, Gregorich third, VanDerGeest fourth and Weinkauf fifth.

The CarQuest super stock feature race was very clean with no cautions. Brian Weinfurter dominated the race leading from lap one to the checkered. Behind him the battle was fierce over the next top spots. Chad Scholl running second, ran out front for quite few laps with Mike Gwidt and Jimmy Ganski in tow. Randy Emmerich, Rick Grunden, Brian Back and Travis Zvolena started at the back of the pack and were working their way to the front. After the half-way point, Scholl continued to hold second, with Gwidt right behind him. However, Emmerich, Grunden, Back and Zvolena all racing the outside groove were threatening to take away Scholl and Gwidt’s positions. Each lap, the outside lane would gain a bit, with Emmerich taking second away from Scholl on lap 14. Grunden also passed Scholl and was now able to concentrate on the second spot, quickly taking it from Emmerich. Meanwhile, Weinfurter had stretched out a straightaway lead. Grunden now free in second began to gain on Weinfurter, but the laps would run out. Weinfurter winning the final RZ Builders Super Stock Triple Challenge feature event and the Krings Motorsports of Arpin feature award. Grunden second, Back third, Emmerich fourth and Scholl fifth.

The RZ Builders Triple Challenge points championship was won by Brian Back, earning the most points over the three event contest. Second place was a tie between Randy Emmerich and Rick Grunden. Brian Weinfurter taking fourth and Travis Zvolena fifth. The top three were awarded trophies compliments of the Marshfield Visitors & Convention Bureau.

In the six lap heat race it was a four way slugfest for first between Steve Kasten, Mark Zeidler, Brad Seavers and Cliff Eckes Jr. When the checkered flag fell Brad Seavers happened to be in front by inches, with Kasten breathing down his back and the duo of Zeidler/Eckes on either side of Kasten.

With the longer ten lap feature race, Mark Zeidler simply put his Honda out front and stayed there for the duration. No one had the speed and skill he and his mount possessed tonight. On the start of the second lap Marshfield’s Cliff Eckes Jr. fell in turn one; stopping the race but returning to the back line for the restart. His injuries amounted to a wrecked pair of racing gloves that were new last week and are now beyond repair. He soldiered through the field to a fourth place finish, while Steve Kasten held off Brad Seavers in the fight for second and third positions.
