July 20, 2002; Marshfield, WI: - It was a muggy evening for Bumper-To-Bumper, WIX Filters and WYTE 96.7FM's night at the races. Burton Brown with his first night here this season set quick time in the Super Late Model division. Tim Hintz set a new track record in the Super Stock division. Larry Will from Batavia, IL drove up for quick time in the Legends and Rodney Feltz topped the Cruiser division.
After four attempts to start the CARQUEST Super Late Model feature the field was single filed and the race began. Pete Kempf jumped out from his pole position start for the early lead. Russ Weiler, Ben Pettis, Eugene Gregorich Jr. and Kirby Kurth hot on Kempf's heels. Gregorich quickly moved up in to the second spot on lap four. Kurth and Jim Sauter Jr. followed Gregorich to the front. Sauter didn't stay behind Kurth and Gregorich for long. On lap ten he powered past them for the second spot and several laps later took the
lead from Kempf. Kempf held onto to second until lap 20 when Kurth passed him. The
following lap Pettis, Jeff Weinfurter and M.G. Gajewski went around Kempf for third,
fourth and fifth. Weinfurter passed Pettis for the third position but was unable to obtain
second from Kurth. Gajewski moved up to pass Pettis for the fourth spot. Sauter won, Kurth
second, Weinfurter third, Gajewski fourth and Pettis fifth. Hintz passed Simonis for second and then took the lead from Bohmsach on lap nine. Cale
Laessig won the feature last week therefore placing him 14th for a start position was up
to fourth by lap nine. Shawn Stelzer running close behind in fifth. Stelzer and Laessig
battle for the remainder of the race over the fourth spot. Hintz won, Bohmsach second,
Simonis third, Stelzer fourth and Laessig fifth. The winner of the Wal-Mart bicycle was Joseph Meyer of Marshfield. Next Saturday at Marshfield Super Speedway, will be The Dental Clinic of Marshfield night at the races. Please join us for another great evening of racing at the newly improved 1/2 mile paved oval.
