August 28, 2002; Marshfield, WI: - Terry Baldry has narrowed Nathan Haseleu's point lead going into the next Planet Pages Midwest AllStar Racing series late model race Saturday night, Aug. 31 at the Marshfield Super Speedway in Marshfield. Racing begins at 7:30 p.m. on the half-mile paved oval. Baldry won the overall Blue, White & Blue State championship at Wisconsin International Raceway last week and also trimmed Haseleu's MARS point lead from 49 to 38 points in the process. Haseleu sits atop the points with 1,060 points while Baldry has 1,022. Haseleu won the feature race at an earlier Marshfield race in 2002, but Baldry has also taken wins at the track. Eric Fransen, winner in 2001, is also entered. Mark Eswein, who won the Marshfield MARS race in 2000, is also expected to be in the lineup. Many of the top Marshfield Speedway regulars are expected to give the touring MARS Series drivers a run for their money. A 100-lap late model feature race tops the Marshfield program with super stocks, legends and cruisers for a four-division Labor Day Weekend card. Heat races and semi-features are planned in all divisions for a full evening of racing. Free camping is offered to fans and competitors.
