Marzofka Will Return to Marshfield Speedway
for Planet Pages Mid-Am Super Truck Race!

June 3, 2002; Marshfield, WI: - Terry Marzofka, who won the series title in 1997 and 1998, will be back behind the wheel of a Planet Pages Mid-Am super truck Saturday night, June 8 at the Marshfield Speedway.

The 40-lap super truck feature will be highlighted on the program with the Planet Pages Midwest AllStar Racing Series 100-lap late model feature as part of the June Nationals at the track.   Drivers from a seven-state area are expected to compete in the two headline divisions on the Marshfield Speedway half-mile oval in one of the biggest races of the summer.

Qualifying starts at 6 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.  Preliminary races will be held in the late model and super truck classes along with local cruiser events.

Marzofka, of Port Edwards, will drive a 2002 Dodge sponsored by Coca Cola and Golden Sands Speedway.    "We've completely rebuilt this truck and it's ready to go," Marzofka said.   "I'm looking forward to returning to Marshfield," he added.

Other top runners from the series expected are Gordon Swanson of Apple Valley, MN; Mark Eberhart of Ripon, WI; Donnie Woller of Merrill, WI; Vincent Wilkinson of Sandwich, Il; Bill Prietzel of Franklin, WI; Art Christoffersen of Toddville, IA; Eddie Muenster of Green Bay, WI; Jeff Steenbergen of Waupun, WI; Andy Jirik of Lonsdale, MN; Jamie Farrell of New Prague, MI; Mike Martindale of Cherry Valley, IL; and Tony Holm of Prior Lake, MN.

Race Drivers Expected from a Seven State Area

Race car drivers from a seven-state area are expected  to compete in the Planet Pages June Nationals at the Marshfield Super Speedway Saturday night, June 8. Qualifying will begin at 6 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. on the half-mile paved oval.

The featured division will be the 600 horsepower Planet Pages Midwest  AllStar Late Models with a 100-lap feature planned.   Eric Fransen of West  Bend will be the defending champion for the June Nationals race and will drive a 2002 Monte Carlo owned by Sonya and Dan Del Camp.     Fransen won two Planet Pages Midwest AllStar features last year, but will face a major challenges from  drivers like eight-time Wisconsin International Raceway champion Terry Baldry, seven-time Rockford Speedway champion John Knaus, three-time Central Wisconsin Racing Association title winner Wayne Breitenfeldt, current Midwest AllStar Series point leader and formerNASCAR Craftsman Truck racer Nathan Haseleu.

The series opener at Madison International Speedway drew a 43-car field and a similar group is expected for the June 8 race at Marshfield.

The Planet Pages Super Truck Series will also be in action with a 40-lap feature planned.    Bill Prietzel of Franklin holds a narrow point leader over rookie hot shoe Tony Holm of Prior Lake, MN.  Art Christoffersen of Toodville, IA is right behind in third place.  He was a two-time feature winner during the 2001 season.    Holm and Prietzel drive Chevrolet super
trucks while Christoffersen drives a Ford.

Heat races are planned and each winner will receive a $50 bonus certificate from the Valvoline Cup program.  Valvoline will also present certificates to fans through a drawing.    Additional lap leader prize money  is planned for the Midwest AllStar late model 100-lap feature.

Winner's share at Marshfield Planet Pages Midwest AllStar 100 could reach $2,240

MARSHFIELD, WI -- The winner of the Planet Pages June Nationals 100 at the Marshfield Super Speedway Saturday night, June 8 could take home up to $2,240 with the additional of lap leader awards announced this week.    Qualifying begins at 6 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. on the half-mile paved oval.

The 100-lap late model feature for the Planet Pages MARS late models tops the night's events along with a 40-lap feature event for the Planet Pages Mid-Am Super Trucks.  Heats and other preliminary races are planned for both divisions.    All on the same program will be competition in the local cruiser division.

The track, which is located on County Trunk H west of Marshfield, also offers free overnight camping for fans and competitors.

The race is the second of the 2002 Planet Pages MARS late model season as the second race on the schedule at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek was rained out Saturday and has been reset for Saturday night, Aug. 10.    Nathan Haseleu, who raced in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series last year, is the series point leader after the opening race at Madison International Speedway several weeks ago where Conrad Morgan and Dave Feiler split wins in twin 75-lap feature races.

John Knaus, a seven time champion at the Rockford, IL Speedway, is currently ranked second in the series point standings.
Erik Fransen, who won the spring race last year at the Marshfield Speedway, is also expected to be a leading challenger again for the June 8 race.

Eddie Muenster to make first Planet Pages Super Truck start of year at Marshfield

MARSHFIELD, WI -- Northeastern Wisconsin modified and late model racing star Eddie Muenster of Green Bay will make his first appearance of 2002 behind the wheel of a Planet Pages Super Truck Saturday night, June 8 at the Marshfield Super Speedway.    Racing begins at 7:30 p.m. on the half-mile paved oval.

The "June Nationals" program will be topped by a 100-lap late model feature and a 40-lap super truck feature.    The late model portion of the program will be sanctioned by the Planet Pages Midwest AllStar Racing Series.     Muenster will drive a super truck owned by Roger Perret of Gwinn, Michigan.  He drove the truck to a second place finish in the USA Super Truck Nationals last Fall at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.  Muenster has won a number of track titles in IMCA modifieds while racing at Shawano, Manitowoc, Seymour, and Luxemburg.   Muenster also has won feature races in
the paved track late model class during Fox River Racing Club events at Wisconsin International Raceway.

All the top five super truck drivers in the 2002 point standings will be in the field along with local favorites Terry Marzofka of Port Edwards and Donnie Woller of Merrill.

Bill Prinetzel of Franklin, who won the super truck race at Marshfield last Spring, leads the series points with 276.   Rookie Tony Holm, feature winner at Pepsi Raceway Park in Tomahawk last week, is second with 253.     Holm, of Prior Lake, MN is closely followed by Art Christoffersen of Toddville, IA with 251.    Rookie of the year in the year 2000 Michael Schmitz of Northfield, MN is fourth with 230 and last year's series champion Jerry Seibel of Campbellsport is fifth with 229
