Marshfield, WI: - The United Rental Eve of Destruction
saw over 100 Eve teams raring and ready to go for the night’s
action. The first event of the evening was the freestyle burn
out competition that was won by Tim Handman of Mosinee in his
1975 Nova.
“Hot Rod” Rodney was the next event and kicked
off the destruction part of the evening. He took his Zebra
painted school bus, jumped it off a ramp and through a motor
home. Smashing the motor home to smithereens.
The tire race started with over 60 competitors. After several
laps around the half-mile, officials moved the remaining racers
to the small track and then to the front stretch only. Some
fierce offensive and defensive maneuvers awarded Tucker Miller
of Wausau the win. Miller is sponsored by Hilltop Auto Wrecking.
Eight forward/backward heats advanced the top two finishers to
set the feature line-up. The first racer to complete one lap
forward around the half-mile, crossing the start/finish line and
then one lap in reverse around the half-mile was the winner.
“Hot Rod” Rodney took the win in both his heat and feature
races.
The first ever powder puff tire racers began the contest on the
small track and then moved to front stretch only. Erin Jicinsky
was the winner as she was able to remove other tires, while
keeping her own to the very end.
The bus racers were on deck next. “Hot Rod” Rodney’s zebra bus
was no longer race-able after his jump, he switched machines to
the Mid-State Truck bus. Brian Carl raced the New Age Masonry
bus. Pat Steele and Chad Krueger also racing buses. Ryan
Pribbernow raced the Miller Lite Beer bus. Cory Kummer raced the
Cory’s Auto Repair, Ken’s Painting and Brian Hildebrandt
Construction bus. “Hot Rod” Rodney took the early lead as
Pribbernow raced through the pack. Steele retired to the pits
after mechanical troubles. Carl was the crowd pleaser as he
tipped over his bus in turn two. Pribbernow and Krueger caught
Rodney to take over first and second. Pribbernow won, Krueger
second, “Hot Rod” Rodney third, Kummer fourth and Carl fifth.
More than 90 drivers entered for the Double O 2nd Over the Line
race. The drivers made a lap on the small track, one on the
half-mile, and another one on the small track. Then they had to
try to position themselves to be the 2nd car to cross the
start/finish line. After nine heats, and a lot of pushing and
shoving, Tim Redmond in the 9-Ball car won. Redmond is sponsored
by Rack N Roll Billiards.
“Hot Rod” Rodney and Fran Esser won swept their heat and feature
in the relay race. Each driver must have a partner. The first
car is on the start/finish line with his partner behind him. The
first car makes a lap on the half-mile and then must drive up
behind his partner and make contact with him. Then the second
car takes off to complete a lap on the half-mile. The first team
to do so is the winning team.
The fans voted for the best themed trailer. Scott Krause of
Stratford was the winner of the 4 ft. trophy with his lighted
snowman on top of the car pulling a trailer with a Christmas
tree and Santa riding along. Krause is sponsored by Finess
Drywall, Kuyoth Body & Custom and Jan’s Optical.
The trailer racers objective is to remove competitors trailers
while keeping their own. “Hot Rod” Rodney took the win in this
event.
The evening was wrapped up with Doug Rose’s Green Mamba Jet Car
burn. He has been piloting the Green Mamba since 1968. It
produces over 6000 HP. He melted two cars to the ground.
An extra Eve of Destruction has been added to the 2006 schedule
for Saturday, September 30th. Doug Rose will be back with the
Green Mamba. “Hot Rod” Rodney will take charge of another
destructive stunt. Plus Bus Racing and much more!
Next Saturday, August 26th is the return of the Limited Late
Models, sponsored by The Stagestop Restaurant and 99.9 WIZD.
Main Gates open at 5 p.m., Miller Time Trials at 5:30 and racing
starts at 7 p.m. Limited Late Models, Super Stocks, 4-Cylinders,
1-Man Cruisers, Junkyard Warriors, Pure Stocks and the
4-Cylinder Powder Puff. Marshfield Super Speedway is located 3.5
miles west of Marshfield on County Road H with weekly Saturday
night stock car racing April through September. Adult grandstand
admission is $10.00, Students ages 10-15 yrs. $5.00 and under 10
yrs FREE with a parent. No Sunday rain date this weekend.
Everyone 16 yrs and older may sign up FREE every race night to
win the 2006 Dodge Charger Pace Car.
