Gregorich Claims Two
Super Late Model Features

Marshfield, WI: - The first event of the evening of the
AutoLife Rx, deBoer Transportation Inc, WDLB/WOSQ Mid-Season
championship was the completion of the Super Late Model feature
of June 13th.
With only 11 laps of the scheduled 30 completed, the
field took the green led by Eugene Gregorich Jr. Gregorich had
taken the lead originally on lap eight, on the inside of Jason
Weinkauf. He had stretched out a lead that night, and continued
strong again tonight with the restart. Jason Weinkauf raced hard
to hold onto that second spot, but lost the battle to his
brother Chris Weinkauf on lap 15. Ben Pettis was also able to
complete the pass on Jason a few laps later for third. Tim Hintz
raced hard in the fifth spot after passing Jay VanDerGeest, but
he was unable to pull ahead of Mark Eswein who claimed the fifth
position on lap 24. Gregorich took the checkers first, Chris
Weinkauf second, Pettis third, Eswein fourth and Jason Weinkauf
fifth.
Following that feature were the Miller Time Trials. Blake
Horstman was the CarQuest Super Late Model quick timer for the
night over 22 other super late models. Wes Coon was fastest in
the CarQuest Super Stocks. Jeremiah Strauss set fast time for
the 4-cylinders. Dave Knauf took the top honor for the 1-man
cruisers and Kyle Genett with a clean-sweep in the pure stocks.
The first lap of the CarQuest super late model feature was led
by Jeff Weinfurter. Troy Nelson then took the lead for most of
the race. Ben Pettis, Jason Weinkauf and Tim Hintz raced in the
top five for several laps. Hintz passed both Weinkauf and Pettis
for the third spot. Eugene Gregroich Jr was on the move again
and into the fifth spot on lap seven. Over the next ten laps
Gregorich advanced through the spots and into second. He took
the lead from Nelson with only four laps remaining. Mark Eswein
was also able to move up during the final laps of the race,
passing Chris Weinkauf for fifth, and then Weinfurter for
fourth. Gregorich took home his second feature win for the
night. Nelson second, Hintz third, Eswein fourth and Weinfurter
fifth.
The CarQuest super late model semi-feature was led entirely by
Elliott Weiler from his pole position start. Eric Wisz raced
second, both earning starting spots in the feature.
The first five laps of the CarQuest super stock feature were led
by Matt Raykowski. Chad Scholl then led the next eight. Randy
Meyer was racing through the pack and into the second spot on
lap 12. Fast timer Wes Coon worked his way to the front from his
twelfth place start. Meyer took the lead from Scholl on lap 14.
Coon was there to take the second spot two laps later. Brian
Weinfurter and Matt Pyburn also racing hard were able to pick up
a few spots in the final circuits. Meyer won, Coon second,
Weinfurter third, Pyburn fourth and Scholl fifth.
George Brandl led the first half of the 4-cylinder feature. JJ
Flick and Steve Hauser both looking for their chance at the top
spot. Hauser took the lead on lap eight, Brandl second, Flick
third, Dan McGiveron fourth and Jeremiah Strauss fifth. The race
went green to checkered. As both Hauser and Flick raced out of
the corner for the checkers, they had contact, both cars
continued to the finish. Flick led just barely the final lap for
the win. Hauser second, Steve Stewart third, Brandl fourth and
McGiveron fifth.
The 1-man cruiser feature was led and won by Dave Knauf. Wayne
Dietz raced from the back to the front for second, Travis Paul
picked up third. Ron Sischo finished fourth and Mike Denny
fifth.
Newcomer Joey Kuhn led the first four laps of the pure stock
feature. He was unable to stop Kyle Genett from earning his
clean sweep. Genett took the lead on lap five and led through
lap 12. Skylar Domine raced second for a few laps until Jeff
Behrens took the spot. Behrens held second for only the next few
laps as Gary Haarklau took second on lap seven. Chad Simone
moved up to take the third spot for the white flag lap. Genett
won, Haarklau second, Simone third, Behrens fourth and Kuhn
fifth.
Next Saturday, July 1st WDEZ brings the first of two Eve of
Destructions this season. The show will include fireworks, X-Treme
Motocross Stunt Rider Jack Rowe, BUS RACES, Forward/Backward
races, Spin To Win, plus much more. Grandstand gates open at 5
p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Marshfield Super Speedway is
located 3.5 miles west of Marshfield on County Road H with
weekly Saturday night stock car racing April through September.
Adult grandstand admission is $10.00, Students ages 10-15 yrs.
$5.00 and under 10 yrs FREE with a parent. Rain dated for
