VanDerGeest Wins His First 2007 Season Super Late Feature! Back, Derk Hauser & Genett to the Winners Circle! By Mary Langreck

July 28, 2007; Marshfield, WI: - The Culver’s, deBoer Transportation, Schierl Company, Z104, Bud Light Night hosted some of the closest racing action yet this season. Jason Weinkauf making his second 2007 points race, set the fastest super late model qualifying lap. Brian Back added another super stock fast time to his resume. Kyle Opelt was the quickest in the 4-cylinder qualifying. Kyle Genett took home another clean sweep in the pure stocks.

Dean LaPointe took the lead from his outside pole position start of the CarQuest super late model feature. LaPointe led the first nine laps of the cautionless 25 lap contest. Tim Hintz, Jeff Weinfurter and Cale Laessig all battled for the second spot. Jay VanDerGeest was steadily working to the front of the field, pressuring Laessig for the third spot on lap three. Lap five, VanDerGeest began to work the second spot from Hintz. Lap eight, VanDerGeest was running second and set his sites on LaPointe for the lead. LaPointe continued to run the high groove, so VanDerGeest took the inside lane. Eugene Gregorich Jr and Jason Weinkauf were also working their way to the front, running third and fourth respectively, with Hintz now fifth.

Gregorich and Weinkauf passed LaPointe for the second position on lap 11 and began a close battle between each other for second. Gregorch and Weinkauf challenged back and forth for the next ten laps for second, while Hintz and LaPointe fought over fourth. With only six laps to go, Chris Weinkauf passed LaPointe for fifth and raced Hintz hard for fourth. Chris Weinkauf overtook Hintz, leaving him to battle with Jeremy Switlick for fifth. VanDerGeest led the field to the checkered for his first 2007 feature win, earning the Beway Race Products feature award. Jason Weinkauf finishing second, Gregorich third, Chris Weinkauf fourth and Jeremy Switlick fifth.

A very close and exciting battle over the lead of the CarQuest super stock began right at the start and lasted most of the race. Randy Emmerich took the initial lead from outside pole. Travis Zvolena was there immediately trying to work it away from him. Emmerich ran the high groove, with Zvolena inside. Back and forth for the lead, with Zvolena scored as leading lap five. Rick Grunden was right there in the mix running third, in the high groove behind Emmerich. The only caution of the race flew on lap seven for a spun car on the back stretch. When the race resumed, with Emmerich on the point, Zvolena inside again and Grunden outside, the battle was on for the lead. At the half-way point, quick timer Brian Back had raced to the front and took third from Zvolena. Brian Weinfurter had been following in his path and was racing fifth. Grunden, using the inside groove, took the lead from Emmerich on lap 12. Grunden’s lead was short lived, as Back passed both Emmerich and then Grunden for the lead on lap 14. Brian Weinfurter overtook Emmerich for third, and began to look at Grunden for second. A battle between Emmerich and Zvolena ensued again, this time for fourth. Zvolena took the spot on the white flag lap. Brian Back won the feature contest, taking the Krings Motorsports feature win award and the bonus RZ Builders money. Grunden second, Weinfurter third, Zvolena fourth and Jimmy Ganski moving up to take fifth on the last lap.

The 4-cylinder feature race lap one was led by Eric Haring. Lap two, was led by Brad Conant. Lap three saw another new leader in Steve Hauser. Steve Hauser led for four laps, before his son, Derk Hauser, began to challenge him for the lead. It was like deja vu, as the father, son duo had and extremely close race over the win of the fast heat. Conant and Haring continued a close battle over fourth, with Jeremiah Strauss fifth. JJ Flick and fast timer Kyle Opelt broke into the top five with only three laps remaining. Flick and Opelt wasted no time, passing Strauss, then Haring and then Conant. Derk Hauser led only the final lap, to win the feature and the Westside Service of Auburndale award. Steve Hauser second, Flick third, Opelt fourth and Conant fifth.

The pure stock feature was led by Gary Haarklau on lap one. Kyle Genett took charge of the lead for the remaining 11 laps. Ryan Mork had started to the inside of Genett and was already racing in second on lap three. Mork chased after Genett for the lead, but was unable to quite get there before the checkered. Genett won, Mork second, Troy Engman third, Haarklau fourth and Andy Hintz fifth.

The IROC saturns were raced by the guests of the Liberty Classic horse show. The winner of the five lap contest was Glyn Cole.

Next Saturday, August 4th is CarQuest Night at the races. Red hot racing includes CarQuest Super Late Models, CarQuest Super Stocks, 4-Cylinders and Junkyard Warriors. Pit gates open at 3:30, grandstand gates open at 5 p.m., time trials at 5:30, racing starts at 7 p.m. Marshfield Super Speedway is located 3.5 miles west of Marshfield on County Road H with weekly Saturday night stock car racing April through September. Adult grandstand admission is just $10.00, Students ages 10-15 yrs. $5.00 and under 10 yrs FREE with a parent. The family ticket is $25.00. Rain date for Sunday two hours earlier.

Additional prize money will be added to each of three super stock race nights during the 2007 Marshfield Super Speedway race season compliments of RZ Builders LLC of Loyal.
Final Challenge Night August 11th
Payout:
The top three feature finishers will receive $50.00 in addition to the payout. The race winner will then draw a number and that position plus the three following will receive $25.00 in addition to the payout.

Eligibility requirements have been dropped. All super stocks are eligible to race for the bonus pay.

Points:
All races will be CWSSA Sanctioned points races and CWSSA rules.

Point Fund:
There will be a point fund payout for the points accumulated for eligible drivers on those nights. After the final Challenge night, the point fund will payout: 1st - $200.00, 2nd $150.00, 3rd $100.00

In addition to the Triple Challenge, RZ Builders LLC is adding $50.00 to the weekly payout. First place in the feature $25.00, then the winner will draw a number and that position will receive the other $25.00.
