Points Leader Gregorich Wins Super Late Feature!
Back, Hauser & Rasmussen Take Feature Checkers!

September 2, 2007; Marshfield, WI: - The John Bell Memorial, Bud Light night saw a new comer top the qualifying in the CarQuest super lates, Andy Hanson of Ramsey, MN. Brian Back of Rudolph started the night strong again taking the CarQuest super stock quickest time. Jeremiah Strauss earned him self the top 4-cylinder lap. Jonathan Zuelke took the quickest junkyard warrior lap.

The CarQuest super late model feature showed more than enough action. With only one lap completed, led by Monte Gress, the caution flew for the first time for the spun car of Elliott Weiler in turn one. Contact between Weiler and Eugene Gregorich Jr would send both to the rear of the field, however Weiler taking the responsibility for the caution allowed Gregorich to hold his position in seventh. The field doubled up for the re-start, took the green, but the caution flew again for the quick timer Andy Hanson, spinning hard into the turn one wall, caused by mechanical difficulty. Once again the field doubled up for the re-start. Gress led the field for two more laps, until Tim Hintz overtook him. Hintz led, with Ben Pettis and Gregorich hot on his heels. Gregorich worked to the outside to take the lead away on lap seven. Hintz stayed strong in second, holding back Pettis. Meanwhile, the brothers, Chris and Jason Weinkauf had broken into the top five, waiting for their opportunity to advance. The caution flew for the third time on lap 19 for the spun car of Chad Devine. The field re-started single file, but it was a rough start as the field bunched together. As everyone checked up, Adam Degenhardt got the short end of the deal sending his car into the front stretch wall. The final re-start of the race took them to the checkered with Gregorich leading. Jason Weinkauf used the re-starts to his advantage and took away fourth from Chris Weinkauf and then set his sites on Pettis for third. As the field exited turn four to receive the white flag lap, Chris Weinkauf’s car slowed but he was able to keep it going for the final lap. However, Mark Eswein and Jeremy Switlick gained taking fifth and sixth. Jason Weinkauf now challenging Pettis for third, took it away at the checkered. Gregorich won taking another Krings Motorsports of Arpin feature win award. Hintz second, Jason Weinkauf third, Pettis fourth and Eswein fifth.

The CarQuest super stock feature went caution-free. The first three laps were led by Travis Zvolena. Mike Gwidt then took over for the next five laps. Four of those laps, Mark Eswein, racing double duty tonight, was breathing down his neck for the lead. Lap nine Eswein would make the pass to take it away. This wasn’t the end of the battle for the lead. Only a lap later, Rick Grunden was right there and began to work the inside to pass Eswein. Brian Back, who start in twelfth was steadily racing to the front and at the half-way point was fifth. Two laps later, Back would pass Zvolena for fourth and the next lap Gwidt for third. Eswein still leading with Grunden pressuring him for that lead. Back would work the outside lane since Grunden was already working the bottom groove. It was a fight for first the final six laps of the contest. Just before the white flag was thrown, Back made the pass stick to the outside, and right after Back cleared Eswein, Grunden would take second from Eswein on the inside. Back won, earning the bonus pay from RZ Builders LLC and the Beway Race Products, official parts trailer at the speedway, feature win award. Grunden second, Eswein third, Gwidt fourth and Zvolena fifth.

The only caution in the 4-cylinder feature flew with only one lap completed. Steve Hauser led the field from his pole position start. The field was still tight, and on the backstretch, the machine of Don Dunow went around, fortunately everyone was able to continue the race. Hauser continued to lead the field, Ricky Brandl raced strong in second, but wasn’t able to take away that lead. Steve Hauser’s son, Derk Hauser, had worked his way into second, but wasn’t able to take the lead away either. Behind the pair, Paul Berg had raced his way into third, with Kyle Opelt fourth and Brandl fifth. Opelt passed Berg for third with only three laps to go. Steven Hauser held off the field for the win and the Westside Service of Auburndale feature win award. Derk Hauser second, Opelt third, Berg fourth and Brandl fifth.

Matt Phelps led the first lap of the junkyard warrior feature. Kyle Rasmussen was running second and quickly took the lead for lap two. Jonathan Zuelke racing to the front, took second on lap three. Wayne Elmhorst moved up a couple of spot for third on lap five. Elmhorst began to challenge Zuelke for second and took it away on the white flag lap. Kyle Rasmussen won, Elmhorst second, Zuelke third, Phelps fourth and Jeff Rasmussen fifth. The top three finishers received trophies compliments of Humbird Jackets and Embroidery Werks.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m., practice starts at 4:30, grandstand gates open at 5 p.m., racing starts at 7 p.m. Featuring CarQuest Super Late Models, CarQuest Super Stocks, 4-Cylinders, Pure Stocks and Powder Puff Races. Marshfield Super Speedway is located 3.5 miles west of Marshfield on County Road H with weekly Saturday night stock car racing April through September. Adult grandstand admission is just $10.00, Students ages 10-15 yrs. $5.00 and under 10 yrs FREE with a parent. Rain dated for Sunday all events two hours earlier.
